I am DJ. I was hired beginning of October by Jeffrey Haber (Jeffrey Heart DJs) to do two events. I applied to the first event through Craig's List. He published an ad looking for a DJ. I have a contract. Second job was settled with him through emails and phone calls.
He already got paid for these events by the costumers. He never paid my share despite my many phone calls. I learned that he ripped of many, many DJ's same way. He owes me close to $600.

#11 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Jeffrey Heart tried that with me and an associate I know.
AUTHOR: Nj Dj - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, November 17, 2008
Jeffey Habor tried hard to avoid me when payment due back in 2004. I have a good reputation and was begged by Jeff to do a job, business must have been slow so I agreed. I did an excellent Job but Jeffrey did not pay me the day of the event. I visited him on a weekly basis and each week he had a stupid excuse. Finally got in his face and stared him down and embarrassed him in front of people. Jeffrey knew he would have gotten beaten and further embarrassed cause I knew where he worked. He paid me after about a month and change.
He did the same thing to my friend and associate in 2007 and 2008 except he owes him over $700. and never paid him.
Conclusion:
Jeff will give you every story in the book. His payment history is not consistent with what he claims. This is not about 1 or 2 people, it is more than that. I do not know how Jeff got in the Tavern on the green but maybe he was related because I haven't heard anyone in the state rave about him. I did not include my real name because unlike Jeffrey Habor, I have too much to lose.

Financial Settlement Agreement Reached With Jeffrey Heart DJs/Jeffrey Haber
AUTHOR: Ghollmann - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, November 13, 2008
This morning, I met up with and signed a satisfactory financial settlement agreement with Mr. Haber. I commend him for coming around and honoring payment for services performed. Payment problems aside, he is a knowledgeable and experienced music/entertainment professional. Before my 2008 problems with Jeffrey Heart DJs, prior year experiences were positive. In those earlier years, payment was received promptly, and he did a good job of preparing for each job.
I wish Jeff well in restoring his company's reputation.
Sincerely,

Was it Really a Chain Reaction Jeff?

Jeff,
The negative blog regarding your company's wedding services was posted on September 3, 2008. See - http://www.martin-isani.com/2008/09/dj-jeffrey-heart-review.html
Alan, Larry, myself and others performed our events for you in August 2008, or even earlier. You should not have been in financial trouble until after the chain reaction spun out of control in September? Your timeline doesn't make any sense. You lied and told me that the reason my check wasn't sent on a timely basis was because your "accountant was on vacation." That was around August 15th? Is he still on vacation?
Later, money that you said was "in the mail" never was. By ignoring your financial obligations and not be forthcoming with the parties you owe money to (such as Alan for nearly $600, myself for $400 - just to name two), you have sadly brought these problems upon yourself.
I will see you later this week in small claims?
Gregg

Our Side
AUTHOR: Jeffrey Heart - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, November 10, 2008
This is an open letter on behalf of myself and my corporation to publics affected by or interested in recent events pertaining to Jeffrey Heart DJs Inc.
For twenty years, Jeffrey Heart has built a solid reputation with the public seeking DJ entertainment and video services for private and public events. We have performed for the New York Giants, Helmsley Hotels, CBS Television (drama Now and Again premier) and even David Stern of the NBA at the American Park Restaurant (where we were a recommended entertainer). In addition to these corporate accounts, we have been the selected entertainment for hundreds of brides and performed at nearly every major venue in the Tri-State area from the Rainbow Room and Tavern on the Green in Manhattan, The Yale Club to the House of Blues in Atlantic City.
Perhaps most importantly, we've been the proud performers at hundreds of Weddings and have books upon books of Thank You Cards, Emails and Reference Letters to prove our reputation. Most internet DJs or scam artists could not lay claim to this. Unfortunately , the casual malicious effort of one unsatisfied couple has placed the company in a dire financial situation and destroyed our reputation creating a domino effect that I will publicly address in this forum.
The situation in question involves a couple who placed an angry blog about the services we rendered for their wedding, which has enjoyed high ranking on the Google Search Engine. Their grievances, while legitimate, were not handled through the binding contract they signed. Instead, they chose to use a public forum to belittle the company and left an open site for others (including our competitors) to literally make up malicious content which also enjoyed similar ranking-status in cyberspace.
Within less then a month's time, upon searching our name, customers became scared off and canceled outstanding contracts, refusing to pay balances for jobs. Many subcontractors refused to work jobs they agreed to, putting the company in the impossible position of having to use avenues such as Craigslist.org to find entertainers.
The personal health issues that struck DJ Jeff prior to the initial job in question (and are provable in the form of thousands of dollars in hospital bills) prevented him from performing at the initial event. This not only resulted in the couples complaint and subsequent blog, but made it impossible for Jeff to bandage the gaping wound on the company by covering the lost jobs himself. In the weeks and months following the blogs appearance, nearly every commitment the company had financially became impossible to meet.
In addition, a once reliable videographer selected by Jeffrey Heart DJs to shoot several jobs refused to release tapes to anxious brides until being paid in full. The videographer resorted to what most would consider black mail against both Jeffrey Heart DJs Inc. and its customers. Moreover, he entered into side agreements that would invalidate the company's responsibility and make legal rectification infeasible.
This combination of factors and events has taken a reputable company, with two decades of satisfied customers and subcontractor relationships, and reduced it to what many are calling an internet scam.
Clearly, this open letter should put to rest the notion that the companies president (myself) and those associated with our company are on the run, in hiding and/or are unwilling to confront the tsunami of bad press that has taken the internet by storm in recent months. Moreover, if this was a scam the personal information of company employees would not have been made public by these angry parties. DJ Jeff AND his family have been personally harassed by several irate vendors, many of whom are not legitimate business entities. These individuals have taken personal information public and have made no legitimate legal effort to contact the company. In essence, there efforts are acts of vengeance, time which they could have used to pursuer there own work!
Some of these vendors have legitimate claims to moneys owed, and Jeffrey Heart DJs is making every effort to compensate them in a timely manner in light of these events.
Although we have been successful over the years, we would ask that all legitimate individuals please exercise patience and caution as they proceed with trying to recoup moneys owed. Please understand this is a corporation, and no one party is solely responsible for what has happened. Any efforts to threaten, black mail or harass individuals will be treated with the harshest effort by this company.
Moreover, individuals who wish to throw in with parties who have taken irrational measures to rectify their claim will be treated by our company with the same level of seriousness. Be forewarned, our legal group has informed us that if you make it known that you have been contacted by these parties, you will be aiding and a betting individuals who may shortly be in criminal proceedings by this legitimate and reputable entity.
We hope we can repair our public image and restore the good will of internet clients and vendors. Let this be a lesson to the power of the blogosphere and those who wish to exploit it. It takes great effort and investment to build a legitimate business and it certainly takes a keen knowledge and passion to please a quarter centuries worth of customers and provide contracted work for entertainers seeking gigs.
This will be our companies only public response to this unfortunate scenario.
Let our reputation speak for itself.
Sincerest regards,
Jeff
President and Proud Founder of Jeffrey Heart DJs Inc.

This is a response to Jeffrey Haber's rebuttal: Just how are you trying to resolve this issue, when you have made no effort to pay me my $575.00 that you owe me for (2) shows? This has been going on for 1 month.

When does it end? We need our money! We worked for it! We deserve our pay. He purposefully sent to DJ's took the money from costumers but never paid the DJ's.

Jeffrey Heart DJ, easy to work with
AUTHOR: Michy - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, November 05, 2008
I DJ'ed for this company afew times this Summer. I sent an invoice, all they required was simple tax info and a cert. of ins. which I provide copies of. I was told to allow 6-8 week for payment to process and recieved a check around 7 weeks.
That really stinks you got burnt, but what I've learned from CraigsList is to keep your ducks in a row and be prepared when you take a job! Unless its B 2 B, there is a good chance that compensation matters won't be smooth. To my knowledge, this is a corporation and its possible that since this was recent it was some sort of stupid corporation book keeping error where someone in their office didn't send an invoice.
Good luck!
