I accompanied a friend to this salon who was getting her hair done for her wedding. Since I have short, fine hair and it is hard to style I thought I would get mine done too. We would have had make-up done too, but the trial application the day before was completely unacceptable. The artist would not listen to my friend and what she wanted. We ended up doing our own.
My hair is barely past my ears and did not require more than 10 minutes of some flat iron work and heavy hair spray application. I was charged $65, $25 more than they had originally quoted me. My friend was charged $300 + for her trial make-up (that she did not end up going with) and an updo. When we asked about this, the manager was EXTREMELY rude and could not give us a reason why they charged us $220 more than the site listed for bridal styling on their website.
This was probably the worst customer service/ salon experience I have ever had. I would not recommend this salon to anyone, they are unprofessional and greedy. Do not trust what they tell you, because they will claim there was never any agreements of that their website is false.

Jesse Daniel Salon; Unprofessional Make-up artists

AUTHOR: Bride - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, July 10, 2010

MAKE-UP:
There's not a set price for trial, though I was told it would u be $100 (Website says $75)

The make-up girl made my make up greasy and heavy. She didn't do the colors I wanted. I told her I don't like peach on my lips, I like pink. She told me she would not change the lips because it does not go with heavy eye make up. I told her I DON'T LIKE the heavy eye make up, only heavy lashes. She added fake lashes, but sadly they were thin and short. I could wear mascara and have fuller lashes, which is sad cuz I have like NO lashes. She still could not fix it to my liking because her professional opinion clashed with what I wanted, as she told me how she's published in magazines. That's good that she is, but I'm a bride; This is NOT a photo-shoot for a high-fashion model runway show, and therefore make-up styles can differ.

So I just decided to take the make-up off, and do my own the day of. I'd like you to know I've had my make-up done many times-- this is NOT a first, I've done pageants having my make-up done by various make-up artists so I'm used to this and I'm easy to please. It's not like I was being unreasonable. I do understand she took time and she feels she should be compensated. But paying (even more than the web price) for something I feel is unsatisfactory work is not OK with me. She did not fix it even after I tried working with her. It's a time where the customer must demand a refund.

You wouldn't pay someone to paint your car red, and your car comes back blue and be OK with it, would you? And what if you asked them to change it, but their "professional opinion" was to keep it blue? Thatz what happened with me, only with MAKE UP!!! DON'T GO TO THIS SALON IF U WANT UR MAKE UP DONE, THEY'RE DISHONEST, OVER-CHARGE FROM THE WEBSITE PRICES, AND THEY DON'T LISTEN!!!!

This bridesmaid had a formal style for a wedding for which she was quoted $65.

No, they originally quoted the bridesmaid $40, because of her short hair. I know this, because I AM THE BRIDESMAID who was overcharged, and that was what I was originally quoted. Do you guys do this "lying on the internet to defend yourselves" thing a lot?

The bride contacted us the week of her wedding because her stylist canceled at the last minute??? We did all in our power to accommodate her wants and needs.

You did all in your power? By providing a make-up artist that did their best to completely ignore the wants of the bride, and by not offering any alternative solutions when the bride voiced her concerns with the make-up consultation. I've seen better customer service at Cost Cutters.

Following a full consultation by a very experienced stylist the bride was given a COMPLIMENTARY conditioning treatment at a deep discount. Balayage work is normally priced at an hourly rate of $90. The bride was charged $145 (Actual work was 5hrs or $450). Additionally the bridal updo was reduced from$125 to $100! And the charge for the trial makeup was $50. The reviewer omits all of these items, which the bride agreed to prior to service.

Complimentary does not mean discount, it means free. Was this an agreed upon service, in writing? Also, doing the math, that only comes out to $295 ($145 + $100 +$50). She was charged $385.00, which did not include the bridesmaid's styling (I had to pay that myself). Also, those are not the listed prices on the salon website. A bridal styling/veil placement (I had to place the veil myself) is listed as $80.00. But I guess when you've already guaranteed that the people you're charging aren't going to be coming back ever again, you may as well gouge them as much as you can!

The bride left extremely happy! We quote Her in OWN WORDS from the time of the service and from subsequent email:

"the curls were GOURGEOUS, it was the style I asked for exactly! Ive never had a stylist be that exact. Chelsea was very polite, and she did bring snacks which was also very polite (not that I could eat them, I have to keep my size 2 figure) but it was still VERY thoughtful; My friend who was with me ate some of it and we both appreciated the extra mile put forth.

There was nothing wrong with the actual hair styling, it looked okay (the makeup is a completely different story, of course). What we're really upset about is the price that was charged, which is over a hundred dollars in excess of what she had been led to expect. And those are not her words, at all. The email you quoted is a wholesale fabrication; we just checked with the bride on this, and the only email she sent was one complaining about the prices and terrible makeup service. The email you quoted sounds like the script to a bad daytime television ad, and we don't appreciate you lying to try to save face in this exchange.

After working 2 days, including the Sunday of that very week to accommodate this frantic bride, the bride found no reason to tip her stylist! Following is another excerpt from the brides email.

Again, Chelsea was poite, accomodating, understanding of my wedding

disasters, and even offered advice with my car that insisted on dying on

me 2 days before my wedding. After my hair was done the curls were

GORGEOUS, and it was the style I asked for exactly. I've never had a

hairstylist be that exact. *KUDOS* I wanted to tip her but my money was

all gone by the time I paid, I still feel bad for that. I ALWAYS tip, and

usually OVER-tip. But like I said, no more $ left. Maybe you should take

out all this extra stuff I paid for and give her a good chunk for the TIP.

What reason would there be to tip, if almost $400 was charged for one person to have their hair done for one afternoon. If you believe the stylist should be tipped, then give her a bonus out of the huge pile of money you overcharged the bride by. Don't act like she should have paid even more for the barely adequate service she received.

As for the makeup trial, a trial is done ahead of time and the cost of the artists makeup and time factored into the price.  The brides response is to take the makeup charge and apply that amount & tip the stylist who so hard & to her great satisfaction as quoted above!

Quoted above, in the imaginary email you guys made up for this reply? That is pretty scummy. She never, ever liked the make-up. She came back to her hotel practically in tears over it, and she was extremely upset for several days following the consultation. Why? Because the artist that was assigned to her DID NOT listen to what she wanted, but forced what she thought was best on the bride because she apparently thought she was better qualified than the bride, to determine what the bride wanted.

Again, the salon offered no help. The bride voiced dissatisfaction over the make-up, but a new artist was not assigned nor alternatives provided. After dropping $385 in misplaced salon fees, she ended up doing her own make-up in the salon bathroom.

The bride indicated she was surprised by the cost?? She states in her own words she paid $200 upfront, then $185 the day of. So this was not a frantic run out the door oversight on her part, but a previously agreed and paid amount with the balance paid on the day of service.

Why would anyone agree to that. And no, she didn't know about the $185. That was sprung on her as she was leaving to go to the wedding, when she had no choice but to pay it so she could leave, or be late to her own wedding. It was an awful experience, and very nearly ruined her wedding. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Jesse Daniel Salon earned its excellent reputation

AUTHOR: Jesse Daniel Salon - (USA)

We are blessed to have so many great experiences with our clients; unfortunately there are some rare exceptions. In this case we feel compelled to clarify some facts.

This bridesmaid had a formal style for a wedding for which she was quoted $65.

The bride contacted us the week of her wedding because her stylist canceled at the last minute??? We did all in our power to accommodate her wants and needs.

When the bride contacted us one week after her wedding to share the praise noted above and her concerns, we quickly involved everyone from reception to management to clarify her pricing questions and address her concerns. In return we received this review from the bridesmaid.

At Jesse Daniel Salon we take great pride in our work and have earned the praise and loyalty of our valued clients. We always strive to exceed our guests expectations and take it personally when we fall short. We treat everyone with great respect and go out of our way to spoil our guests, many of whom have been in with our stylists for decades and are more like family. If our manager was extremely rude and we in fact had terrible customer service we would be out of business.

It is unfortunate that this individual feels compelled to hide behind Anonymous and cast aspersions and untruths. It is sad that we find ourselves defending our reputation after doing all we could to accommodate this individual and the poor frantic bride at the last minute. We deal with many bridal parties in the stressful lead-up to their wedding and have been there ourselves, so we are quite understanding of this.

Unfortunately in this case it seems our efforts were for naught, but thought we should share our side.
