Jessica Shauna Pitts Jessica Pitts Stole new iPhone and 1 million dong in cash

While at a Da Nang, Vietnam, hostel, two valuable items disappeared from the room Jessica Shauna Pitts (from South Africa) shared with five other women: a new Apple iPhone and one million đồng in cash. Both times she was the only person in the room at the time (verified on hallway camera). The second victim had copied down the đồng serial numbers and reported their theft and numbers to the police, who alerted banks, hotels, tourist agencies, etc. to detain anyone trying to pass those serial numbers.

Further, she violated Vietnamese tourism law by overstaying her Vietnam visa by more than two weeks and was detained at the Da Nang airport, where officials confiscated her passport and reported her to the French authorities. She is prohibited from leaving the country without paying for the period that she overran her visa, paying to apply for another visa, and paying a fine.
