Jiffy lube had their sign up for a $19.99 oil change. I have a 95 BMW 325i. it usually costs me a little more for an oil change because of the amount of oil it takes and the filter. They asked me if i wanted high mileage oil and an air filter, so again i figured it would be more than $19.99. I had no idea it was going to cost me $68 for a simple oil change and an air filter. And that was after the discount.

What a rip off. I will never go back there again. And i will tell this story to everyone i know and hopefully talk as many people out of going there as i can. That is the best way i know of it get back at these places that rip people off. Word of mouth is a very powerful tool.

Not Customer Ignorance

AUTHOR: Ted Jefferson - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, July 31, 2009

When a customer enters a Jiffy Lube location, they should be brought to the service review area where a customer service advisor will go over severe service recommendations with the customer. It is the Customer Service Advisors responsibility to make sure the customer is aware of all choices of oil AS WELL AS their prices. I have had customers think that the synthetic oil was a option to the conventional oil at the same base price. Therefore I had to explain that it was not and that there was a upgrade charge for it. If the Service Advisor did not tell the customer then they are not doing their job properly and are omitting this information to have a higher ticket average and oil mix or they need to return to the JTSS training and make sure they complete it correctly. There is no excuse not doing ones job right.

Go Somewhere Trustworthy

In the future, you may want to consider going to a quick lube that provides a menu of services, including prices.

How were you ripped off?

AUTHOR: Anonymouslubetech - (U.S.A.)

Just asking, because you said yourself that you agreed to the upgraded higher mileage oil and air filter. If you agreed to purchase something without first asking what the price was, you weren't ripped off, you were willfully ignorant and are now playing the victim.
My advice, if you do return to Jiffy lube, is to pay attention when the customer service adviser is asking you what services you want. If you are interested in something, whether it's a turn signal light bulb or a transmission service, as how much it is.
I work for Jiffy Lube and it is company policy that the customer service adviser explains the price of each service and give an accurate estimate prior to the services being done.
If this is not done, as for the estimate, then ask for the general manager and explain that you had to ask for an estimate.

I Had Bad Experience with Jiffy Also - Almost ruined my car!

AUTHOR: Cheryl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 05, 2008

I live in Hollywood, FL, and went to the Jiffy Lube on Sterling Rd. for an oil change a couple of years ago. Everything seemed fine, until two days later, when I broke down on I-95!!! My oil light came on, and while I was trying to fight traffic to pull over on the side of the interstate, I started to hear a really loud clanking sound, like someone taking a metal rod and holding it against a spinning metal fan. I had to wait two hours in the sweltering heat for my fiance had to come get me off the busy and dangerous highway, and call to have my car towed to Jiffy Lube. Mind you, I have IBS, and being too hot doesn't sit well -- it aggravates the disease.

Come to find out, whoever did the oil change, didn't put the oil cap back on properly -- it was totally gone. Plus, they never even bothered to change the filter! It still had the same date on it from one year ago! I was steaming mad... I was ready to sue Jiffy Lube. My engine was ruined!

Thankfully, I dealt with a VERY courteous and professional manager, and he made things right. Jiffy Lube paid for a rental car for one week, and also paid for a new engine, and he said, "whatever else your car needs to have fixed so that it runs well again -- it's on us!" I am very thankful to this manager for resolving this issue, but will I ever entrust my car to Jiffy Lube again? Not on my life! Especially since I've heard my friend's horror stories -- then I come here and find even MORE horror stories!

9 times out of 10, you ARE being ripped off!

AUTHOR: Jenifer - (U.S.A.)

My cousin is a manager at Jiffy Lube on 33rd and Sandy Blvd in Portland. He took me to the store on 82nd by the Max station one weekend for them to change my oil. Let me tell you a secret....don't EVER pay for the high grade oil with them!! I can guarantee you that half the time, they are not even using it. They run out of it and don't refill it, and just use the low grade and charge you up the butt for the better stuff. My advice to you? Try Firestone on 122nd and Stark!! Awesome and honest technicians work there.....Jimmy Norton is one of them---I have been going there, and have never once felt like I was being ripped off....the only reason, as a matter of fact, that I even took my car to JL was that my cousin was doing the oil change for free...
