my family and I where on holidays recently and had heard there was allot to do and see in minca, a quiet mountain town just outside of Santa Marta in Colombia.

On entrance to the small town we noticed there was an "information" centre located right at the entrance of town, we later came to realise that this "information stand was no more than smoke and mirrors where "jungle Joe" the owner and constructor of the "information" stand was simply plucking off unfortunate tourists as they entered the town and selling them his own dodgy tours which we later came to knowledge that he is mimicing other professional companies within the region who have got very proffessional and solid reputations.

he was pushing his full day minca tour, before going I was sure to ask allot of questions as my children are young and some of the activities, "Tubing" in particular looked somewhat dangerous, however the photos looked like the equipment was quality and Joe's friendly old face and persuasive was of talking, re-assured me that everything looked legitimate.

How far from the truth I actually was, the photos on his advertising has clearly been stolen from the internet as non of the equipment was anywhere near as good nor even close to what was on the posters and although Joe looked me in the eyes and told me that it's 100% safe ONE OF MY CHILDREN ALMOST DIED THAT DAY, I understand that rules and regulations arn't as strong in colombia as perhaps the states or other further developed countries but his guides are to small and young to be of any help if something goes wrong, I have no doupt that he under pays them, his equiptment is cheap and there is no real attention to safety, I don't know how long these tours have been running but I hope to god that he is shut down soon before he seriously hurts someone or worse! someone ends up dead!

DON'T PUT YOUR MONEY OR YOUR LIFE IN THE CARELESS HANDS OF THIS SEEMINGLY TRUSTABLE HAPPY GO LUCKY OLD MAN, YOU WILL REGRET IT.
