Anyone who has been forced to attend JSI "classes" would be hard pressed to give a positive feedback about it's counseling program. It's really clear when the court order to allow the referal to an outside counseling agency is ok'd by Cici the Mesa branch manager and then revoked by the corporate HQ after 12 weeks of classes already attended by me.
I was charged with Judicial Interference in a Mesa court and received the standard sentence of 26 classes from JSI. I had my intake interview at which time I explained the special needs for my mental disabilities and requested a referral to
Terros Inc for my counseling provider. I explained that Terros was my med provider and I have been a client for over 4 years. I explained to the JSI intake worker I felt they could better serve me as they are familiar with my psychiatric problems and the many medications I am taking. They refused stating that I would need a court order to allow my request. So I went back to the Judge and he issued the order that OK'd my request if JSI agreed also. It took several trips between the judge and JSI but I received my referral and it was signed by the the top manager in the Mesa location and I soon began an Anger Management group at Terros. I had attended 10 weeks when JSI called me to tell me I could not attend Terros further and I must start over in there class. I was threatened with a court order violation
that would land me in jail! I asked if I would get credit for the 10 classes and was told NO I would not. I said I want to talk to the Judge again and was told "why? the Judge is powerless to change anything!. I was shocked to hear this. So I went back to court that day. I explained to him what JSI was now telling me and he quickly remembered me and the multiple appearances before him to get the referral approved. He set a date for a sentence review hearing and I'm waiting for that. JSI wants $520 from me or they will get me locked up.
JSI is a failed program with a high cost and no effective results for its clients. A money machine propped up by an exclusive court contract to assure new clients no matter what. That is a real scam. An an injustice to those who need it.
