The owner of Great Lakes Melungeon Nation, Kati Blair (aka Kati Littlefeather, aka Kati Martin, aka Mammy Clyde, aka Mammy Georgia Martin, aka Kati Renee Blair, aka Midwest Lost History) has been falsely representing Melungeon people, and others, regarding Michigan State recognition, culture and history.

Aside from using racist words like "Mammy" to describe herself --a white woman -- this person has fraudulently misled the public by declaring that her business "Great Lakes Melungeon Nation" is a so-called "state recognized cultural group." In reality, Great Lakes Melungeon Nation is not a state or federally recognized tribe or cultural group of any kind. It is a business that she is selling memberships to enroll -- purposely using language to confuse the public into believing they're registering with a Native American tribe. Only when directly confronted does this person admit that her business is nothing more than a lineage group.

The State of Michigan only recognizes 4 tribes, and none of them are Melungeon. As a Melungeon person, along with many others, I am just sickened at this brazen appropriation of our culture that is being used to defraud innocent people who are not savvy enough to catch on to it being a scam.

This con artist is also stealing artists designs and selling them on her Etsy store, passing them off as her own. She is using photos of our ancestors and selling them on t-shirts. These are people to whom she shares no known relation or familial connection, yet she is hellbent on capitalizing and making money off of us.

Like most con artists, Kati is very well spoken and good at fooling people. She is slick and has absolutely not morals when it comes to convincing others of her lies in order to keep her scam going. If you encounter this person or her fraudulent "Melungeon Nation" you and your wallet are best advised to walk the other way.

The Melungeon people have long been victimized by people like the owner of this Great Lakes Melungeon Nation, because we are under-represented and often ignored as a very small minority group. It is incredibly unfair - but not at all surprising - to see that our names, our culture and our suffering is once again being exploited for the monetary gains of a racist white person.
