By invoice dated July 21, 2006, we verbally agreed to hire Xo Publicity for a 3-month PR Campaign to commence on August 7, 2006. We mailed 351-CDs and by wire transfer July 31st sent a deposit of $2400. Eight days after we remitted our payment, Xo Publicity admits that they still have to figure out which magazines reach our target audience. They have written that they are still conducting research and may only send 200-CDs to see who bites and then the other 150 to get a better idea about the target audience.

We terminated the agreement and asked Xo to refund our deposit on August 9, 2006 after Xo representative sent an email asking if we would compete in the "International Battle of the Bands". It was now even clearer that Xo was not competent or capable of executing our publicity campaign as per their proposal.

After termination, the owner of Xo Publicity, Kaytea admits incompetence by saying she should have contacted us earlier and takes full responsibility for not telling us about Xo and how the project would be handled. After only 8-days since our agreement, Xo refused to refund the deposit. We reluctantly agreed to the return of 351-CDs to sever the agreement. At our prepaid expense on August 16, 2006, however, we received only 348-CDs. As a result, we are now short budgeted campaign funds and 3-CDs.

Yet more positive references/recommendations of xo publicity

AUTHOR: Xo Publicity - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 22, 2008

I have worked with Kaytea on countless projects and have enjoyed all of them. You can count on her to always bring a fresh, upbeat attitude to the table. Whenever I'm having a bad day I know one of her emails will help make it better. If you're looking for someone with a positive outlook and knows how to get things done, Kaytea is the one. October 20, 2008 Chad Kennedy , Publisher/Editor-in-Chief , Teen Scene Magazine

Are you serious???

AUTHOR: Iodina - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Kaytea and all the girls at XO Publicity are super solid. They work extremely hard for all there artists, and do a fine job of it. Kaytea has worked several projects for me, and currently work my band PRIZE COUNTRY. She does a great job, and her prices are fair. The market for getting music out there is very hard, and new band get thrown to the wayside. It sounds to me someone jumped the gun and when they didn't have the money to pay for a campaign AFTER it got started. Get real. XO Publicity is not a scam, they have done a ton of work for bands that otherwise would have gotten no recognition.

i strongly recommend them to anyone looking for press for an artist.

The Music Business is a Cruel And Shallow Money Trench....Yada, Yada, Yada

AUTHOR: Pat Kearns - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Yeah, I'm sure most of us have read that famous quote before:

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side. "

I've been in this business for awhile and I've worked with Kaytea and XO on a handful of albums and tours over the last two years, and I have found XO Publicity to be the exception to the rule. They have been nothing but straight shooters, hard workers, and creative go-getters when it comes to publicizing. They are professional.

As for contact stealing....I've known that to happen to publicists, radio promoters, and booking agents. When it's done underhanded and dishonestly, people get upset. Kaytea is a good person, honest and a hard worker....bad things can happen even to good people.

Victims Must Speak Up

AUTHOR: Rippedmetoo - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 21, 2008

I have intimate knowledge of this company's deception and unethical nature. For all the references listed here they continue to pass themselves off as an upstanding PR firm but doesn't it make you wonder why after only 8 days of a contract with no work done they were unwilling to refund the clients money??

And here is further evidence to show that Leah Hunter and Kaytea of XO Publicity are all up to no good. In a post titled "f**k Hunter Promotions" the writer at Suburban Horror details how former XO Publicity employee Leah Hunter has now ripped off Kaytea of XO Publicity by stealing a large amount of contacts. Although Mr. Smith attempts to praise Kaytea, it leaves one thinking. If Kaytea's contacts were so solid and her reputation as great as she would have us believe would her contacts be so easily stolen by Leah Hunter?

Supposedly, another former employee, Megan Spellman has also "stolen contacts" upon leaving XO Publicity.

Well you know what they say, "birds of a feather flock together". I would advice any indie band or artist to stay far away from XO Publicity and companies like them. This company in particular sounds like a sinking ship.

"Let's see. I need to say something good about Kaytea McIntosh in the space provided here, but something much more clever than just "Kaytea is good..." Right? But that does kind of sum it up in three easy words... She is good people. Friendly, prompt, courteous... When I watch Nancy Grace on CNN at night I say to myself "man, this lady is up tight! She would be much better off if she were more like Kaytea McIntosh." She sends me CDs. Whenever I get an evelope in the mail from her it's sort of like Christmas. Not only is there a CD inside, but there's usually some sort of toy as well... My favorite was the sticky lizard that I could throw at the wall and it would sort of hang there for a minute before it rolled down and hit hit the floor. My cats loved that one. I can't tell you how many times I was sitting here working on a story and my cat would come into my office with that sticky lizard and drop it on my foot. It was wet with cat saliva and riddled with teeth marks. It didn't stick to the wall much after they had chewed on it, but they still loved it. And when the cats are happy, I'm happy. Therefore Kaytea McIntosh receives my official seal of approval."
