Impossible to reach and incompetent. They actually advised our partner to act against their own interests and desires for no discernable reason.

Showed no interest in our case, were unresponsive, and provided almost no service. Had to contact the other party personally to complete the transaction blocked by Sara Ledford, adding over three months to what should have been an open and shut case.

Response to Complaint

AUTHOR: Ledford & Wu - ()

POSTED: Thursday, December 05, 2013

I was very disheartened when reading this complaint and unfortunately cannot identify which former client this pertains to.  However, as one of the partners at Ledford & Wu, I do feel the need to respond as specifically as possible.

First and foremost, we are far from impossible to reach.  Our offices are open for phone calls at 312-294-4400 from 8 am to 6 pm CST Monday thru Friday.  Every person who calls has the opportunity to speak with one of our attorneys.  We also have a paralegal answering calls on Saturday mornings from 8 am to 12 pm CST.  If you question this, and it's within those hours, simply make the call.  All clients are given the direct email of their attorney, an email to the general account can be sent from our website, we have a 24 hour fax line and we have ten offices with significant availability to meet with one of our attorneys in person.  We pride ourselves on our level of communication with our clients and this is the first complaint we've received since opening in 2003 that such communication was an issue.

Second, while it is unclear what the "transaction" in question was, it must be noted that most transactions involving assets or financial issues are prohibited while a person is in an active bankruptcy without express permission of the US Bankruptcy Court.  If that permission is necessary and the transaction is reasonable, we are certainly capable of obtaining the permission by filing a motion with the Court.  Again, without being able to identify the specific client and case, I cannot state with certainty what the exact issue was, but Ms. Ledford certainly did not "block" any transactions.

Finally, nobody in this firm would give legal advice to anybody other than our own clients and certainly would not tell a non-client to act in a manner that would be against their own interests.

In short, I firmly believe that this is a former client who was not happy with the restrictive nature of the rules and procedures of bankruptcy while still seeking the protection of the bankruptcy laws.  Rather than acknowledge that these rules and procedrues are applicable to them, they would rather simply blame the lawyer.
