 First off let me say this review is based on my personal experiences with Leisure Time while dealing with them for over 8 years I have not included any negative comments from other people I have met both in and outside their park over the years, this is based on my experience dealing with them. I am not blaming this dealer for mechanical failure of the equipment I purchased all I am stating how he handled them for better or worse.

I was a loyal customer of theirs since I purchased my first trailer from them back in the fall of 2008 I have sent several people there for parts and to look at trailers, most recently my brother looked at a trailer while we camped there in July. I have not complained or really made waves as I believe everyone has a bad day and stuff happens. That was until today when the owner had one of the ladies in the sales and service office call me as he didn’t have the back bone to call me himself to discuss the fact he supposedly heard I was not happy with the mechanical service I had been receiving. Apparently I have been stating negative things about the service department/dealership and that and I should take my business elsewhere like Globe Trotter RV in Bolton (coincidently a dealer that receives 5 Stars from everyone I talk to so I will say thanks for suggesting a competent dealership). I felt bad for his emloyee as she was only the messenger and I did ask some abrupt questions but at no time did show her any disrespect. I respect his right as a business owner to decline to service myself or anyone based on it being bad for his business or whatever other personal agenda he sees fit as it is his business.

That being said I am personally bothered by the fact that I am being black balled based on the lie that I had been spreading negativity about his business. Since I am going to be treated as if I am guilty I may as well give him cause to make those statements. This is all true and I have copies of work orders to back up these statements. Trailer #1 Purchased August 2008 2009 Great Lakes RV 210FQ This was my first trailer that I purchased from their sales office. I had not owned the trailer long when I found an issue but when I took the trailer for service that’s when I should have clued in to steer clear of these guys but I am super busy with work and not that much of a handy man so I tend to leave repairs to the professionals so I don’t end up spending more to fix my mistakes.

Issue #1 before taking possession of the trailer I paid them to install a TV mount for me and their service tech accidentally drilled 2 holes right thru the trailer wall to the outside. I didn’t say anything as the owner was apologetic, had a plan to repair the trailer and mistakes do happen. They siliconed the holes to prevent water from entering the trailer and to prevent bug issues. They said they would call the manufacturer and order a new wall panel but it would take a little time. The Tech did install the tv in new holes but the mount was not even installed strait but I didn’t say anything as I did not wantmore holes in the trailer.. in the end one was not available(more on that Later)

Issue #2 with in 2 weeks of ownership The hose for the shower connected to the bathroom tap and was leaking by the tap. I tried to tighten the hose but the leak was still there. I took the trailer to the dealer to have the issue corrected. I dropped the trailer with them and they kept it for a few days to give it a good look over. Later that week I received a call notifying me that they had left the trailer hooked up to water for several hours but could not find an issue. Then they proceeded to charge me yes charge me approximately $60 as the trailer was not covered by warranty as the manufacturer had gone bankrupt. I paid the bill and kept my mouth shut as hey how could he know. Hindsight says that companies don’t just go bankrupt there are signs and my first one should have been the low price I paid at end of season but being my first trailer I thought I was lucky as I purchased in august towards the end of season. I am not saying he knew they were going closing the doors but I suspect he did and just wanted the trailer off his lot.

Issue # 3 It was a rainy day while we were camping one day that turned into a severe thunderstorm . My wife noticed there was some water by the front door and we both thought it was odd. As it was later in the evening so we decided to investigate the next morning when we got up. I checked the door seals to ensure the rubbers on the door frame were intact, latch seal, made sure the door seated properly and was not warped. Everything looked OK. I still did not like the fact that water was inside the trailer so I decided to look further. I grabbed a ladder from another camper and started checking the roof seals and everything looked good. As I was about to climb down I noticed that the main seal above the door was completely missing and there was not even a remnant of it ever being putty sealed or even siliconed. You would have thought that would be caught in the PDI when they checked over the trailer prior to delivering it to me. I decided to fix the issue myself as there was no warranty so why pay all that $$ when fixing it was as simple as filling a gap with silicone. I didn’t even mention it to them as I didn’t see a point.

Trailer # 2 Purchased Oct 2015 2015 Kodiak Express 283 BH We purchased trailer number 2 from the dealer thanksgiving weekend 2015 and did not take possession of it until April 2016 so the warranty did not begin right away they did work with us on that and I did appreciate it. We started camping right away and quickly developed a list of small items that needed to be fixed, They were all handled quickly without issue. As the season went on we found the nose cone of the trailer would indent when we towed it down the road so we showed the dealer and they sent the info off to Kodiak. They authorized replacement of the nose cone and agreed it could be done at the end of the season to allow me to use the trailer while the weather was still nice.

Issue #1 A few weeks into ownership we noticed a wiring issue. Every time I turned on the headlights it would blow the fuse in my pickup. I tested the issue on my truck and one of my friends truck with the same result. I called the dealer to book the trailer to be checked as I was planning a trip where I could have to tow at night. When I arrived at the dealer the Jr mechanic observed that ½ the lights on the trailer were not working and called to the SR tech. he came over immediately unplugged it form my truck and used a jumper wire to turn on the lights. This cleared whatever short was going on in the trailer wiring. I left the trailer with them to look over but they were unable to find anything further wrong with it. .

Issue # 2 When turning it appeared the trailer wheel and tire was excessively flexing so I asked the SR Tech to take a look to be safe. He barely looked at it and said it’s the Chinese tires, When I questioned that it looked like the whole wheel rim and all was twisted he said that’s the way it is and told me how he had been doing this forever don’t worry about it and went back into the shop.

Issue # 3 Again a bunch of small issues like trims coming off etc.

Issue #4 While my Niece was sleeping over a few nights on a camping trip she wanted to sleep in the living area so we put down the Table so she got the most amount of room. Half way thru the night the wood support failed and she fell down. Before someone say it was because of her size she was 11 and weighed under 80 lbs. Luckily she was not hurt as the screws sheered and left sharp edges sticking out, when we took the trailer to the dealer they said they were busy so they did a quick fix with some extra screws and said they would complete the work at the end of the season when they had more time.

Issue #5 Come the end of the season I dropped the trailer off to get the nose replaced and another list of small issues dealt with. When I went back a week or two later to pick it up the trailer I decided to look over the trailer to ensure everything was fixed. When inspecting the nose I noticed a few areas they missed caulking not a good start. The Stove vent was supposed to be replaced as it had fallen apart nope not done so I had to wait while they rushed to do it, Microwave was replaced but there was caulking finger prints all over the inside of the trailer, The shelf in the outside kitchen was supposed to be repaired as well but that wasn’t and still is not, The table support that broke mid-season was not fixed properly and we were told that Kodiak had declined fixing it again. While waiting for the SR tech Dave to finish with my trailer I was trying to make casual conversations with him and he said to me that he didn’t deal with b***h or whiney customers and if they didn’t like the service they could go somewhere else and that he had told a few not to come back. After getting home I called the dealer stating I was not happy that their tech’s left fingerprints garbage and footprints all over the trailer, it may be a cheaper trailer by their standard but I didn’t need the inside ruined by someone that did not care. They apologized on behalf of the company but it took me a while to clean the caulking and dirty hand prints off the inside of my trailer

Issue # 6 The nose cone on the trailer still indents while driving and now I have to try work thru Kodiak on how the issue will be repaired and this dealer is choosing not to help me work thru it. Now for the actual camping park of this dealer. For the most part the seasonal campers are friendly offering a smile or wave as you go by, but make sure you check the pool schedule before taking your kids to have a swim because they will yell at your kids if its adult swim time and they try join. They don’t tell the kids its adult time please come back in x they just scream at the kids its adult time go away then continue with swearing etc. As a parent I don’t need my 4 year old learning the F bomb. The park is full of outdated equipment, not the old Rubbermaid plastic equipment that is faded this is the old metal equipment that most parks and schools have removed as they pose a safety hazard. There is also a wooden log train for the kids to play on that is showing its age. There is a fishing pond but most of the time its more weeds that anything else. The security at night is obnoxious we have been told to put out the fire at 10:30, he told my wife and I its quiet time at 10pm. The Pull Thru sites are similar to US parks they are small. The sites are so close to Hwy 9 with no trees as a barrier so you have to sleep with the fan on and the windows closed unless your drunk, a few pull thru sites have septic access hatches on them so you have a concrete obstacles to deal with, Not very kid friendly. The rates are on par with most parks situated close to the city. If you live close to Toronto and want somewhere close by for the weekend it’s Ok but try get in on a cheap weekend or it’s not worth it.

As a new RV dealer they have always had good prices and gave fair if not above average trade in values, you get a night free when you purchase a brand new unit with a fairly informative walk around. If you want somewhere to purchase a trailer and save some money go there buy your trailer and plan never return to have warranty or any other work done by them or have any other contact with them until you are ready to buy another unit. DO NOT service your equipment here under warranty or otherwise you get mediocre work at best and if you complain when they don’t do what you paid for the mechanic refuses to work on your equipment ever again.
