I don't understand why people are posting hostile rebuttals and saying this is made up. I don't know if it is true, but it is certainly not amazing or surprwd things - like buying a 15 year old car with 300k miles on itand then saying they were taken advantage of when it needs repairs 6 months later...as if they had no idea that old high mile cars may break down...but I don't see anything clearly stupid here. I guess it would have been better not to put the cash there knowing the delivery guys were coming, but if the delivery guy did take the money the poster is still justified in complaining about it I'm all for calling BS when someone is an idiot and then wants to blame everyone involved but himself for his own stupidity, butI don't thinkthat is really the case here.

Actually I think the short guy with dark hair which "does all the work" is a clever ruse for his diabolical intentions. He sends the tall guy out on reconnaissance and he reports back to the short guy with dark hair "making comments about the things he saw on top of the island" then the short guy with dark hair swipes the items on the way out.

The suspicion is on the tall guy and the short guy with dark hair gets away scott free. Those blasted short people! especially those with dark hair.

Okay let's say that it did happen exactly as you said. Unless you get them to confess to the crime. There is no way you are going to be able to prove that THEY took your money. First of all it was 7 days before you noticed it, and another couple of weeks before you posted this report, and still a few days after that before you filed a police report.

This"timeline" is pehaps your biggest problem. Because not only the fact it took you that long to discover it missing, but once you did you still didn't do anything for a couple of weeks. Then when you did it took someone on the Internet to tell you to file a police report.

So basically the police report looks like this:

Somewhere between 12/10 and 12/17 two $100 bills I put on my coat rack disappeared. Since I did not notice it until the 17th I can not confirm the exact date they went missing. The only new people in my house was two delivery guys. One was short and did all of the work, the other one snooped around my house. There were other people in my house but I am sure that they didn't do it. Once I noticed the money missing I waiteda couple of weeks before I posted my complaint on the Internet. Once I did someone suggested that I should file a police report and only after they suggested I file a police report did I think I should.

You see where this is going right?

As for your Mother-In-Law, I agree with the previous poster..that just sounds like "fluff".

A police report has been filed.A written complaint has been filed with the company.I have been in contact with the regional manager and so far he has been receptive.

The reason the money was not deposited was because I was in finals week at school and I did not have the time to get to the bank.I work full time, go to school full time and I have two small children to take care of so I dont go to the bank very often.I dont understand how this is my fault.This is my house and I shouldnt have to hide things.People have a sense of entitlement and that the problem with America today.Just because something is left out doesnt entitle someone to take it.

This whole ROR sounds made up - too many holes.

I really don't understand how someone would leave 2-$100 bills laying around knowing that some delivery men were coming; and at eye level on a coat rack to boot? Ever heard of going to the bank the day before or carrying it in your wallet.

And the description of the men: "The two men, one short with dark hair, the other dark hair and skinny and dark hair". If you were to call the police this wouldn't be much for them to go on! Your mom left two candy bars out for her delivery. Are you sure you people aren't leaving signs around saying "take me". Maybe they thought these were their tips.

WHY would you leave (2) $100 bills laying around? That is just plain stupid, especially when you knew you had delivery people coming!

Don't you have a wallet? How about pockets? How about a car with a glove box that locks?

You had lots of options but CHOSE to put yourself at risk.

Furthermore, if you couldn't trust your Mother to keep an eye on these guys, maybe you should have rescheduled the delivery for a time when you could be there.

I think the second story is fluff, to bolster the first. And, the timeline doesn't add up.

First you say the delivery was on 12/10/10, then you say you noticed the money missing on 12/17/10. So where did this week go? Did you not have time to get to the bank that whole week? Sounds fishy.

So, did you file a police report?

Did you file a written complaint with the company?

Thanks for the information. I am going to file a police report. I have also requested the names of the delivery drivers from Levin Furniture. I will keep you and others posted on the outcome of my situation.

Mostfurniture stores use delivery contractors to deliver their products. What this means is that the store is NOT liable for any issues you may have with the contractor. It also means that the delivery people were very likely not background checked or drug screened. Your mother may have been in danger. If one or both of those clowns were ex-cons or drug addicts they may have resorted to violence, especially if caught in the act of theft.

You need to contact the police and file a formal report. They will investigate the workers, check their criminal background and take any legal action they can. Worst case is they will not make an arrest BUT the report stays on file for a LONG time. If these clowns slip up again the police will start putting the pieces together.
