I listed my vehicle on Craigslist and got a call from "Matt" from Longwood Inc offering to sell my vehicle for me for a "small fee".

A quick search uncovered pages and pages of shady behavior and nearly 300 complaints filed against them through the Better Business Bureau.

Here's the voice message, I put it up on youtube:

Not violating "terms"..but CLEAR warnings...

These SCAMMERS do look on Craigslist for potential victims. But there is not much they can do really to prevent it.

There is NO reason to pay anyone to sell your vehicle when you can list it yourself. That is why this scumbag loser spammer scammer "Matt" from Long Wooden c**k inc has all kinds of complaints.

Craigslist is free to list..so they offer no protection against scammers or except any liability..it is up to the sellers to use their common sense and instincts, as fortunate for this poster..was done. But Craigslist DOES list warnings on their site..

  • DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts on craigslist.
  • NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.
  • FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.
  • CRAIGSLIST IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification"
  • NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)
  • AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL "GUARANTEE" YOUR TRANSACTION.

What are his terms?  Did he rip you off?  He is not doing anything illegal.  Craigslist has terms?  I'm sure they don't apply to someone outside the AD you placed.
