Complainant, Lucas Car Care, has challenged the truthfulness of certain statements (each, a Statement) posted by Author Jayson Moody on the Ripoff Report website at www.ripoffreport.com on February 8, 2008 as Ripoff Report No. 307361 (the Report). Both the Complainant and the Author (together, the Parties) have agreed to submit the dispute to the Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration.
In addition to challenging the statements made by the Author, the Complainant is also challenging the status or role of the Author. The Complainant states that the Author is a former employee of the Complainant whose employment was terminated in February 2008. The Author has not disputed this information.
Each Statement challenged by the Complainant has been considered, together with any Witness Statements and Documents provided by the Complainant and the Author, for determination of the truth or falsity of the Statement. I have been asked to decide whether the preponderance of the evidence submitted established that each Statement is true or that it is false. If the statement identified by the Complainant is determined to be an opinion, that determination will be the only determination made as to that particular Statement because an opinion can not be determined to be true nor false.
Each challenged Statement submitted by the Author is set forth below together with my comments and ruling:
1. Statement: Work gets sold and paid for but not done on unsuspecting customers vehicle.
Discussion: The Complainant has provided a declaration disputing the statement. The Author had the opportunity to provide evidence supporting the Statement but did not do so.
Ruling: I find this statement false.
2. Statement: On one occasion, the owner first hand, gave orders to sell a body control module $900 to a customer that only needed a $39 brake switch. This customer did not need nor receive a body control module, just paid for it!
Discussion: The Complainant did not provide evidence directly contradicting the allegation that a customer was charged for a part the customer did not need. The Complainant has provided evidence that it does not charge customers for parts they do not receive.
Ruling: The Complainant has not produced evidence to sustain its burden of proof with respect to the Authors contention that Complainant provided a part to a customer that the customer did not need. The remaining claim in the statement is found to be false.
3. Statement: This company also has a bad habit of selling $250 brake jobs and putting $12 pads on the customers vehicles and telling them they got factory OEM parts. When in fact they came from Advanced Auto Parts.
Discussion: The Complainant has provided a declaration disputing this statement. The Author had the opportunity to provide evidence supporting the Statement but did not do so.
Ruling: I find this statement false.
4. Statement: When customer asked for her money back she was told by Tyger Lucas AKA owner of Lucas Car Care, that he could not keep her as a customer, so why give her money back.
Discussion: The Complainant has provided a declaration disputing this statement. The Author had the opportunity to provide evidence supporting the Statement but did not do so.
Ruling: I find this statement false.
5. Statement: The first time she turned the vehicle off the symthom [sic] reappeared as they knew it would because nothing was EVER done to the car.

On more than one occasion ,I have seen first hand the owner, of this company spoon feed a line of B.S. to the patrons that frequent this establishment. (((REDACTED)))

I have also witnessed, first hand, this company call customers and sell them $500-$2,000 worth of work to there vehicle before a technician has ever diagnosed it.
On one occasion, a customer came in late in the day complaining her car would not move from park to drive. Customer made it very clear that she had to be on the road to go to Louisiana to watch her grandchildren while her daughter had brain surgery. Instead of fixing the vehicle to be problem free it was pulled around back of shop. The customer was told it needed a brake switch, reverse lock out switch, and was informed it would be $600. Customer agreed and authorized work. Being 5 p.m. on Saturday it was impossible to get any parts from the dealership. The customer was told it was fixed, paid for the job, and left. (((REDACTED)))

A couple of years ago- I had the same things described in the other reports happen to me. Lucas care car looked good and had a great reputation (from people saying "I hear they are good"). But I had not spoken to anyone who actually had their vehicles worked on there.
I stopped by to get a feel for the place with a front headlight bulb needing to be replaces. Tyger gave me the royal treatment, did it for free..gave me a hug..the whole shebang so I felt great!!!! So a few months later I had the engine light come on. I brought it in to his shop. There was a woman office manager working at the time. She was very nice and said she had years of experience and seemed to really know her stuff. Tyger said she was single and going through some hard times and he was just trying to help her out though he wanted to "let her go" because he was getting too many complaints.
She called me to say that my exhaust had a leak in one of the hoses up in the back part. It would be around $100 to smoke test it. I said ok go ahead. She also suggested that since my mileage was at a certain point- to go ahead and get the maintenance tuneup timer belts, water pump etc done. I said ok- even though it was a bit early- but that's ok.
She stated that they only use OEM parts. Since they weren't a Honda dealership- I wanted to make sure they knew what they were doing. Both she and Tyger stated that they had one guy who was a"Honda certified technician." Which later I found out wasn't really true.
The Office manager called me and said the techs had the blueprints of the car laid out because they were having a hard time figuring out how to get up under the manifold to get to the hose . THAT was NOT a good sign. I said "DON'T TOUCH MY CAR if they don't know what they are doing!" She said "oh- they figured how to take it apart- just took them a while."
When I came to pick up the Honda (they did give me a loaner car which was great) it looked nice (Oh yes- they did wash it all pretty including the rims) but the dashboard and floorboards vibrated so much it even rattled papers int eh back seat. We drove to San Antonio and and I got a bad headache from the steering wheel vibrating so much. When I spoke or someone else in the car spoke- our voices vibrated!!!! However the other visits- they promised me a loaner car and then left me stranded without one on a weekend. So I again had to email Tyger- and he made the lady off manager go bring me a car. TY Tyger for that. He also apologized and said they DO NOT use OEM parts and the OM never should have said that and said that's one of the reasons he wants to fire her. (It was ALWAYS all her fault). Meanwhile the Off manager is telling me about all of Tygers problems, his accident, his injuries, and other personal business I just ignored!
I took the car back in- they said they could not find anything wrong and don't know why it's vibrating now. They thought maybe when the guys tried to put it back together after fixing the hose- they might have not put it back on right. Tyger was in Florida at the time. So I emailed him and told him no one was touching the car until he personally looked at it. He said he would look at it and take care of it personally. He got back in town- still could not find out why it was vibrating so badly.
They replaced three motor mounts. Still vibrated badly. Then Tyger turned on me and said something new must have developed and they weren't responsible. He hired a new Tech. An gentleman who was experienced and was the Honda automotive teacher at the college for like almost 30 years. At this point- each time I took the car in (4 times now) I sat in the car and turned it on to check it out. Then they would sit with me or ride with me BEFORE I even took it off the lot. So it stayed at their place. This guy drove it and saw right away something was wrong. THANK GOD! He was disappointed at what he saw had been done.
They had put on the wrong timing belts. And they had only replaced the water pump- but not all the hoses etc- so that was all done. He said the engine mounts were not OEM Honda and they were close but could be a problem. He spent a lot of time redoing the work and making sure all was balanced properly. Tyger said he's get the right OEM engine mounts for me and had them replaced.The vibrating got a LOT better! But still not all the way gone. At this point Tyger was upset and started complaining TO ME how he was paying this guy almost $30 an hour to FIX ALL of their mistakes and he could not afford it anymore.
They did not charge me for a lot of things- but I also DID NOT GET what I had paid for!!!
And I'm not talking a few hundred dollars- well over $1000. So I got stuck driving a vibrating car- there goes resell value!!!!
A couple of years later- I had a Honda place check it out- (Burdons Auto Care near Jones and 1960). They ARE AWESOME and knew what they are doing. Turns out that Tyger had my cracked original mounts left on my car- never got the new ones he said he would. SO A LOT MORE money it has cost me and time.
I'm not afraid to TELL THE TRUTH- even though there might be retaliation due to Tyger's FORCEFUL and unprofessional rebuttals.
I am just stating the facts of what happened to me. I think Tyger is a nice guy- and has a decent business. But it cost me a LOT of TIME and money and aggravation. I just think they need to be honest, truthful, and make sure that what people are being quoted and estimated is really what they will do. To be responsible to fix their mistakes- no matter what the cost. People are human and make mistakes. Just be professional about it and not lie and try to cover up.
Business is based upon Trust, and Integrity. Tyger lost mine. All he had to do was make it right. That's all.

i find it suspicious that all these people would stand up and give a good word about this business--based on how they all talk it sounds like a sales pitch from a commercial-there is just no need for the overly nice comments--again-it is a sales pitch-we go to tygers shop and his beautiful wife??-and they replaced my tires for free??-it sounds like this guy is posting all these reviews by different names--my red flag--i saw the picture of this happy family guy with his kids and his wife by that motorcycle--that is scumbag giveaway--to the employee--he may have witnessed some things but the truth is ??--i myself was a disgruntled employee and wrote a rip off report about my former employers so i can relate--remember disgruntled employees become disgruntled for a reason--however-only after working there for 2 months??--and by the way--it says they fix only the finest cars like maserati and exc--i work part time for a shop that does the same--i see bentleys, ferraris,mercedes,bmw, porsche exc---this guy wants to pay 8.00 an hour--looks can be deceiving

Funny how this is the only ripoff report with so many great things to be said about the offender. I used to work for another shop that is in the same area as Lucas Car care, and the owner of the shop I worked for was actually good friends with Tiger and his Yellow Ferrari. Now you know who I am Tiger. Any back to the point I used to Manage one of Tigers friends shops. Several times vehicles acme in and our technician would diagnose the problem with the vehicle and we would present it to the customer. Numerous times I would hear that the part in question had just been replaced at lucas car care. I would then contact the owner of my shop and ask how to procede. The normal answer would be to take care of the problem make up a story to tell the customer and not charge them. Then later the owner and Tiger would work out payment for what we did to cover his shop not replacing the parts that they said to replace. I was a first hand witness and party to helping make sure that the customer never new that the vehicle was not repaired at Lucas car care because the owner of my shop and Tiger are good friends. Dont be surprise if you go to Lucas car care and ask for your old parts back and you want to see the part on the vehicle after it is installed that some one gets mad at you. Also if your told you need a dealer part that you ask to see the invoice for the dealer part that you get some story about no invoice because tey are billed monthly or some crap. The truth is even if your are billed monthly eertime you buy a part from anyone dealer included it will be delivered with an invoice for that part. Just some hints to keep for getting ripped off. I someone doesnt want to show you the new part, old part, or prove that it came from the dealer then something is right. If your honest its very easly and even refreshing to be transparent.

I took my car in for an a/c repair. I was quite shocked when they called me 2 hours later saying that my car was ready to be picked up. They give me the invoice and its at $5500.00 I was completely floored! Of course I had no choice but to pay, so i did. As im on my way home, mind you its only 5 mins away, its starts blowing hot air just as it was before I took it in.
I turned around and went right back. As soon as I walked in they already knew i was very upset. The owner came out and invited me into the office I told him my issue and he explained to me that there is nothing he can do, they did all the work and put in a new compressor, and i was basically s%&* out of luck. But what he didnt know, lucky for me, my husband is an attorney ; )
I went straight to the mercedes dealer told them what happened, they checked out my car, guess what? It was the same compressor! The only thing these crooks did to my car was put freon! $5500.00 worth of it of course! Whatever you do stay as far away from these people as you can. BTW my husband has already filed a claim against your repair shop, we'll be seeing you in court.

This company is awesome! I want to commend the work done by your shop and your service technician, Frank. While I was in Houston on vacation, my van's A/C compressor went out. Someone recommended your shop. Your manager told me he would make repairing my van a top priority. I was concerned about getting everything fixed properly and put back together correctly, since my conversion van had many controls, lights, electric rear sofa, and many other things that a mechanic usually doesn't have to contend with 'under the hood.' When I picked up the van , I was very pleased that everything was put back in the proper place. On our return trip to Alabama, the A/C worked flawlessly in triple digit heat. John R

I went to Lucas Car Care after being referred by 2 different sources. I had my 04 Ford Van into the dealer 4 separate times to fix an AC problem. Each time, they told me they fixed the problem but it never seemed any better. I went to Lucas' and they found and fixed the problem on the first visit. My AC now works like it should have all along. Aside from fixing the problem, I really liked the fact that my service advisor (Craig) kept me posted on what they were doing and explained things to me clearly. I'll be using Lucas Car Care for all my auto service going forward!

This is a great place to take your car!! This was the first time I took my car here. My car wouldn't start and I was worried since I had to get my car towed to whichever shop I went to that I would be stuck paying whatever they said was worng with it. These guys were great. They were honest and told me exactly what they were going to do and got my car running again. Since my check engine light had been on for awhile, they told to me to come back when I had problems again and they would know specifically what the problem was. I did come back and i only really had to pay for the second and more important visit. That was three months ago and my car is still running great. In fact, they even gave me a call recently to make sure I was doing ok! I will definitely come back here in the future!

Lucas Car Care has the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever dealt with. From the time I walk into the front door to the time I pick my car up after it's finished. My service advisor, Gary, is very knowledgable and kept me updated on the repairs so I wasn't constantly wondering the status of my car. Fantastic place to take your car.I was having shifting problems with my car and needed to have it checked out.I had it checked out by the volvo dealer prior to taking it to Lucas Car Care.The dealer gave me a estimate that was just more than I could spend.I found Tyger here on Google and gave them a call they checked my car for free(The dealer charged me).Called me and gave me a estimate I almost didn't believe.It was much less than my prior estimate.They fixed my car the same day and it was just the amount they said it would be and my car runs great now.Gary the guy I dealt with is a very friendly and easy to deal with.Give Them a try you will not be disappointed

After reading all the positive reviews here, I decided to give this shop a try. I wasn't disappointed. I brought in my 2006 BMW M5 for an issue with starting the car after it had been baking in the sun for a while. Basically, it would turn over, but wouldn't start. I described the issue to Tyger and he told me they would try to reproduce it. Long story short, they were able to reproduce the issue, solved the problem, replaced the part, and now my car is great! On a side note, my car was also making a strange sound, like a loud whirring noise when I made a turn. Sounded to me as if a wheel was out of alignment. Turns out the front driver's side bearing was shot. Tyger also took care of this, squeezing me in on a Friday (this job takes 2 hours of labor!) so I could make my drive down to Galveston for the weekend. I was so impressed with Lucas Car Care's professionalism and service. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone

I want to commend the work done by your shop and your service technician, Frank. While I was in Houston on vacation, my van's A/C compressor went out. Someone recommended your shop. Your manager told me he would make repairing my van a top priority. I was concerned about getting everything fixed properly and put back together correctly, since my conversion van had many controls, lights, electric rear sofa, and many other things that a mechanic usually doesn't have to contend with 'under the hood.' What has been said here about Tyger Lucas and Lucas Car Care is a complete lie. Tyger is great as well as the services provided by his company. Everytime I go into his shop i feel at home. everyone there goes out of there way to help me in any way shape and form. When i leave not only do i get a courtesy call but i get a thank you card in the mail anddd carnations on my dash board. (thats only on saturday services though).

Tyger So I know what all the rave is about! Before you took over, what use to be Lucas Car Care was "Please stop in - no care". For what this is worth, I have to tell you that I am extremely impressed. You have to tip your hat to an owner that has customers spend a few hundred dollars at his shop and the customer leaves happy! That's me. From the minute I set foot in your store to the minute I came to pick up my car I was given the royal treatment and I wasn't the only one. Tyger It's old fashion, back to basics customer loyalty and simple best practices that any proprietor should encourage and I can tell in your business it all starts from above. Your associates don't have to "act" like they care, it's second nature to them. You don't have to send a thank you note to all customers the next day, but you do. Another glowing review for this great car repair business! We bought a car from a sister that was about 10 years old with only 70k miles on it. Owned it for about two years now and went in to get a tune-up because the clutch was slipping. Turns out we brought it in just in time. It had never gotten it's 70K tune up and there were many things on the way out, including the clutch. There were about $1400 worth of repairs - which would make most people faint, but fortunately we had the money saved. But I was really shocked that Tyger gave me a complete run-down of what needed to be fixed and in what order to do it so we could pay it off in chunks. Later we found out by the sister that she didn't really do much to the car in the past besides oil changes. Oh well. Now we have what feels like a brand new car! I am so happy with the service and how quick and thorough they were. Also, they were able to give me same day service! Amazing!

I wanted to thank you for providing excellent service during my two recent visits with my 2000 BMW M-Coupe. It was refreshing to be able to leave my car in "good hands" with an obviously well trained BMW mechanic and know that all the service will be handled in a very professional manner.
By the way, the improvements to the car since you installed the Bilstein shocks, H&R springs, intake exhaust, etc., have truly transformed the car. It worked amazingly well on the race track and passed several 911 Turbos in the process! I'll be back shortly for some brake upgrades and possibly with a track car M3.

Okay, not that I'm picky or anything, but my 1985 240DL has 222,280 miles on her and I still have every piece of paper ever associated with this car, including the window sticker.
I've been going to Tyger exclusively since the day they opened because I trust these guys completely. No one else is allowed to touch my car. He really looked out for me. They let me know what needs fixing now, and which repairs I can safely delay.

You said you have contacted Rip-Off Report and get no response in regards to taking the report down. It's stated pretty clearly elsewhere that the owner of the site will NOT and never will do such a thing, but after a time, you begin to see *why* he won't.
And it makes TOTAL sense.
Look, your service was bashed by someone. Doesn't matter in the end who or for what reason. Because he's done this, your business will now sink or swim based on the people who respond. Look at the ratio you have above! SO many people have come to your defense, stated their good dealings with you and your staff, and they outnumber those who have complained by A WIDE margin.
You could say that this report has, in fact, done you a service. People will come and compare the postings, see how many are for or against. Most importantly, people will feel the honesty of the people on your side and respond to that.
Slamming Rip-Of Report doesn't really make sense given all this. With what I've seen in the way of responses, you won't have a problem with keeping happy, satisfied customers for a long, long time.

Lucas Auto Care helped to take care of my Lexus RX300 in a way that really showed they cared. I had taken my car to two different car shops who guessed what the problem was and replaced pieces that were not the problem. When I took it to Lucas Auto Care they took the time to properly go though the entire vehicle to figure out not only what the problem was but what had caused the problem. When they did fix the vehicle they did so in less time than was originally promised. On top of all of that they gave me a free loaner while my car was being repaired.

I just purchased a Jaguar XK8 in March of 2008. I had it serviced on numerous occasions at Jaguar North on the North Freeway and the car was never repaired properly or the work completed I asked for in one visit. I had a seat module issue and it took 2 trips to get this repaired properly and then I had to pay. I feel since this was a computer module issue, it should have been covered under the extended warranty. I came across Lucas Care Care on line while looking for something else for my Jag and decided to take the vehicle to them the next time it needed service, since they have 30 years of experience. Let me share MY experience: The folks that work there are of the highest calibre. They are polite, knowledgeable and care about the customer. I took my car in for a cooling system issue and several hours late they phoned me with the diagnosis. They quoted my a price of approx $800.00 to change the thermostat, reprogram my module because the windows were acting up and clean and degum my throttle body. Since I got this vehicle back, it has never run as good since I bought it. The air blows hard and cold and it has a lot more power. I had asked Jaguar North to go over the car and let me know if anything needed attention and they gave it a clean bill of health....2 weeks later, my hose fell off in Kemah and all of the coolant ran out under the vehicle after a lovely dinner and drinks....they really did a good job checking it out, huh? Had my husband not been with me I would have had an extra $200.00 tow bill in addition to repairs.
To make a long story short, when my car was ready as promised, Lucas Care Care dealt with the extended warranty people, got my towing and cooling problem taken care of under the warranty. They also installed a a improved design thermostat from Jaguar, test drove the car for 80 miles to make sure everything was repaired properly. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle the bill was only $477.00. Two days later I received a Thank You card from the owner and the following day a personal phone call from Tyger himself to check if everythig was working properly and if I was satisfied with the employees and the service. Needless to say, I was floored, who the hell does this?
99% of the businesses, once you pay and leave, they could care less about you.
This was a first for me. These folks repair some of the most expensive and finest automobiles on the planet. When I was at the facility, there was a Lexus SC430, a Ferrari and a Maserati in the shop. You people that are bashing this business and owners and employees really need to do some research first. Whatever your reason for this type of behavior is uncalled for because these folks are many, many cuts above the rest and they truly ROCK!!! Trying to ruin someones good reputation and business for no reason is not nice and remember, it is a round world and you will ALWAYS get back what you sow, be it good or bad!!!

Hello my name is Tyger Lucas, owner of Lucas Car Care and Texastoys.com. I am very proud of the business I have built over the past 30 years and I would like to share with you what I feel is valuable information. As you may or may not know the world of selling cars and repairing cars is a hard business and making everyone happy is very hard. I myself am not perfect but I strive to do my very best. In fact if I surveyed my customers today I would say 98% of my customers love me. My point here today is about the 2% that get on forums such as this one and post ads about their experience that have been fabricated to beyond belief, point blank lies. If you research just little into the stories and the individuals posting the ads many times you will find the truth has been lost and the motives for the ads are purely malicious. My word has been the root of my success and is why I am here to defend my reputation. I have a 100% customer satisfaction policy in which if you are not happy with my work for any reason I will refund 100% of your money. This company, Ripoff Report is a sham and I have tried contacting them many times to remove this ad but get no response. I have been going to see Tyger for the past 3 1/2 years. He also has a full service automotive shop in Kingwood and has always taken good care of me an my family. Originally, I was the only one in my family who took their car to Tyger's shop, because his shop was located in Kingwood and it was to far for my mother, sister, and entire family to drive. Since he opened his shop in Cypress, I turned my entire family onto Tyger and his beautiful wife Anya. THey have always treated us like family and never once have I felt like I was misleaded, or taken advantage of. Matter of fact, my daughter brought her car in to get an oil change and have her tires rotated and he did not charge her for her oil change and told her that her back two tires were bad and needed to be replaced. So, I called Tyger to find out if we needed to buy 2 or 4 tires. Tyger told me because of the alignment being off, the front 2 tires needed to be replaced because the steel was showing. I told him to order 2 new tires and I would pay for them.
When my daughter picked up her car, she said Tyger did not charge her for anything. He said it was on him. She called me and I called Tyger at once and he said no way is he going to charge my daughter for the 2 tires.
His reason is why we will be life long customers. He told me that because I had referred my entire family to Lucas Car Care, it was on him. I still drive to Cypress to have my oil changed every 3,000 miles even though Tyger's Cypress shop is not really set up for Lots of oil changes, but more for high end repairs, on BMW's, Jags, exotic cars, etc. But I like to see him when I can because he makes me fell like a million bucks!
As I read this garbarge about Tyger and Lucas Car Care, it just makes me sick.. This Jayson person is out of his mind. I have never met Jayson, but after seeing what he is trying to do to my Mechanic, the man who has taken very good care of myself and my family, must really be borderline retarded.
Sounds like to me this person is a very bad person and just because he was terminated because of his own actions, doesnt mean its ok to go out and bash someone who gave him a chance to better themselves.
Anyone with common sense will read his postings and look right through them. I have been in business for myself for the past 34 years and I can tell you this, this retard is only hurting himself because what employer in their right mind would want to hire this headcase and border line retard.
I hope other satisfied Lucas Car Care Customers will respond like I have to back up and support their neighborhood Automotive Shop. Hopefully, people will see that this Jayson kid is an outsider and lets thank GOD Tyger let this retard go!! Good Job Tyger and I just want you to know that Myself and my family all support you and it is very clear this outsider has over stepped his boundaries.

There is no removal function Tyger.. I tried to remove it but it will not let me. So if it will only let me update, you win okay I will leave you alone it ends here!! Do not call me any more I am forgetting that I ever worked there. I hope you do the same!

The report given by "Not as smart as me, Houston, TX" is Jayson Moody. Jayson Moody was hired by Lucas Car Care as an hourly counter helper on December 31, 2007 and let go on February 4, 2008. Mr. Moody was caught stealing from the company and attempting to recruit employees and customers for his own personal business interests.
As a result of this activity he was let got. His posting on this website are slander and lies. We are in the process of filing criminal charges. EMPLOYERS and CONSUMERS beware if you come in contact with Jasyon Moody at another auto repair facility or any business. After he was let go from our company we have been notified that he was fired from his two previous positions within the last 12 months with two other very reputable auto service companies.
