I purchased a standard poodle from what I thought was a reputable breeder.  Luminary Standard Poodles, Victoria L. Law.  Dogs parents are Dam Luminary Maryland October (Lily) and Sire CH Luminary Black Velvet Sonto ll Redel (Mondo). I paid $2200 for a healthy dog.  I've had poodles with health issues and did not want to go through that again.  Instead Lake has a genetic fault Malocclusion.  Also called Parrot Mouth, the lower jaw is shorter than the upper jaw.  The teeth misaligned caused her lower canine(the tooth is as long as my pinky finger) to dig a hole in the upper palate of her mouth.  It caused the enamal to be worn off on another tooth.  It also caused the dog to drool constantly.  Surgery to remove the two teeth cost $757.90.  We adopted our poodle when she was 12 weeks, 4 weeks after all her baby teeth were in, and according to my vet whose speciality is dentistry, were crooked and a strong indicator Malocclusion.  The breeder should have seen it.  The dog should not have cost full price.  The contract states Ms. Law guarantees the health of the dog (except genetic defects stated in contract, Malocclusion isn't one of them) for the first year.  Lake was 8 months at the time of surgery. Ms. Law claims "It isn't a genetic fault and Vets always blame the breeder).   I thought she would want to make things right and would offer to pay the cost of the surgery.   She hung-up on me.  Don't do business with this woman.

Response to Really?

AUTHOR: Kat - (Canada)

POSTED: Friday, September 16, 2016

I understand that this post is 2 years old but I am now dealing with a puppy that has malocclusion and over my research I came across this post.

As you basically tried to shut down this ladys experience by calling her a scammer you do realize that it is completely UNETHICAL for a breeder to breed dogs with ANY geneticly caused disorders and they should STOP breeding the dogs with the genetic disorder in this case malocclusion. I understand that was in their agreement and there should have been red flags when signing a agreement that basically excludes themselves from any genetic disorder but having a malocclusion is something that you notice, or your vet notices so the breeder would know that this is a problem. If you ask me the breeder is the scammer not the woman trusting a so called reptubile breeder.

Really??

In the body of the post you state that its a genetic issue, which is included in the contract you signed and agreed to. I have researched it online and also found it to be determined a genetic issue. So this ENTIRE POST was made because the breeder WOULD NOT pay for YOUR dogs teeth surgeries. You state it yourself that genetic deficiencies ARE NOT covered by the terms and conditions of the contract YOU signed. That means YOU KNEW THIS AHEAD OF TIME BEFORE MAKING THIS REPORT!!

You figure if the breeder isnt going to help you that you will attempt to damage their repuatation ONLINE. It wont work because ANYONE who can read will see your story for what it is. YOU trying to SCAM the breeder into paying for YOUR problem. And since they wont do so, you justify your actions and attempt internet blackmail. Sorry to tell you this but YOUR report is here FOREVER!!! They will NOT take it down. So good luck in your attempt to scam them, its obvious they are WAY smarter then you are as they didnt fall for your scam.

There is NOTHING for them to make right. As the issue did not become appearant until AFTER your purchase. Im betting your standing on some shakey "principle" that since you purchased the dog from THEM, THEY are going to pay YOUR dogs vet bills. Unfortunatly as with many issues of principle, YOU ARE NOT RIGHT!! Just because you THINK you are doesnt make it FACT or REALITY. If this issue is causing damages to your dog, then YOU should have taken your dog to the vet sooner to avoid those injuries.

My question to you is this....When exactly are you going to learn or accept that what you are doing is WRONG!!!! It is ILLEGAL to post YOUR lies as FACT. Doing so opens you up to being sued, and make NO MISTAKE you have given them just cause to sue you. You have defamed them online. Any judge will read your contract and YOUR post and find for them. Due mainly in part to you running your mouth online.
