Mandy Wray owner of Mandyjospoms I feel that though Mandy has a congenital "warranty" she was not ethical in taking responsibily for $500 dental work on dog sent.I have lots of proof from vets and breeders.Should have been fixed 1st. Pomeranian Breeder, pet quality, in Missouri. This may be an unusual circumstance for her. But still was unfair. I now own a dog by much more than I would of paid. Grant City, Missouri

I purchased a 1 year old spayed, pet quality pomeranian from Mandyjospoms in Missouri, never expecting perfection this mid August, 2009. I liked that she fed her dogs 95% human grade food, and kept them in a healthy enviroment, and gave a lot of information on her web site. Her dogs/puppies are very cute and she really seems to be a kind woman who loves her dogs, and I still believe she is.

This is not a personal attack against her. She did take time to explain the issues and special care tiny dogs require, but aren't teeth an issue? This is strictly bussiness..Maybe Mandy has never been confronted with an issue like this before and/or her dogs in general, didn't have this problem (at least to this degree), and I'm pretty confident that the majority of her clients are pleased. But it just takes one bruised apple to ruin a pie.

When I received my dog she was cute as can be, but it never occured to me to look in her mouth. After giving her a week or so to settle in, I brought her to my vet for a wellness check up. She had an ear infection, which I had no problem with. Then I was told and shown that my dog was retaining almost all of her baby teeth. The vet said, at 1 yr old if they haven't loosened or fallen out they won't. Her teeth were so crowded, overlapped and not allowing her adult teeth to grow in properly. She also had a decent degree of tarter on her very back teeth. The defect was around the entire mouth, not just the front.

I was told that this would absolutely cause major gum disease, bad breath and other mouth issues and serious problems. I understand that it is common for small breeds to retain some baby teeth... but 17!? No one agrees that that is normal by any standard. They needed to be pulled and cost me over $585 for teeth, anesthesia, blood work and meds to prevent infection. She said I was being price gauged. I invite anyone to call any vet in South Florida to veify prices of $20 a tooth and surgeory costs..

Somehow Mandy's vet gave this dog a good report regarding the teeth. No one could get over that. Maybe it's just because they've done a lot of business together, I don't know. On one of her pages on her site, Mandy writes that she breeds her dogs for health and bite. There is no way this could have been over looked. I have vets to attest to this. That teeth don't just pop up from nowhere. The 2nd vet I saw, after the teeth were pulled, said her teeth and bite were all not alligned and in places where they should not be and recommended a dog dentist..now this is out of control!

I have letters from various vets and breeders and photos of the dogs mouth to back up my dilema. I thought I paid a total of $1,395 for my dog and shipping. Now I was incurred another $585, more than I would have paid..the teeth were not disclosed to me honestly. I love my dog and of course will be happy to care for her future needs/problems..but not a prexisting one.

I only wanted/asked for reimbursement for the vet bill or even 1/2. I really tried to compromise but she would not bend, saying it was not covered under the warranty and that no other breeder would do it either....she also mentioned that she had the dog spayed as if a favor. At this point I don't even want to compromise anymore.

Any breeder who does not want her dog to be bred, and sold as a pet, will tell you this is common practice.. (I don't care about a "warranty" it's just a piece of paper). A reputable, responsible, breeder would have never shipped a dog before correcting the issue...or would respect and look into the information that was given to me in Florida to to investigate my complaint, before dismissing me.  I have breeder testimonials to that as well.

I recently checked Mandy's site. Saw that she's selling some pups a s low as $450 and another(rare clored) under $1,000 due due to a small really undetectable paw defect. I consider mine a pretty big defect! My dog was 2 1/2 1bs at 9 mos..now she is over 3. Mandy explained her "tinees" are rare and that she research before pricing. But mine seems to still be growing (i don't really care about that either). Well she also neglected to say that there are teenies being sold for less. I feel like I was taken advantage of, because I fell in love with a cute little face. And was a layman and trusting.

For $1,900 I could of gotten more or less,  a show quality dog, that would not be bred, at 41bs.. I just got her and have only had her approx 6 weeks, and I hate to be repetitive..but this, if only by common sense, is not a normal thing for me to be responsible for, as soon as I get the dog!! Breeder should be responsible, if anything, to maintain a good reputation.

I believe with much thought and research, that I have presented a fair and legitimate case and problem with more than adequate confirmaions from respected proffesionals. What do you think?

I would be more than happy to foward/supply reports from vets, bills, and breeders as well as photos

Beware of this breeder!

I did not purchase a puppy from Mandy Wray but I had contacted her and wanted to buy one. I had a bad experience and just wanted to add it on here as well.

I had emailed Mandy about a puppy and at the time the photos on her site of the puppy of when it was 7weeks old. When I contacted her the puppy would of been close to 11weeks. I kind of thought that it was strange they were so outdated but I emailed her anyway.  She contacted me back and said she was available. I then asked for updated photos and a possible quick video so that I could see her size.  She had videos of the whole litter but not of this puppy in that litter. I also thought that was a little weird.  She told me she would email me photos that night and try on the video.

I did not get photos until the next day and she said she had lost internet all night was why.  I then asked again about the video. She kept saying she would try.

I liked what I seen in the photos so I started asking questions about her current weight, what her adult weight would be, I wanted to see a vet report, I asked about any issues with her, and also about her health guarantee. I told her I wanted her as long as I could get this other information.  I told her the days I had off from work for shipping to see if those would work out.

She waited almost a whole day to email me back. When she did she only mentioned money and did not answer a single one of my questions.  I again asked about the vet report and weight.  Once again a day wait and then no reply on the questions I had asked only money mentioned for a second time.

So I decided to call her contact number.  A woman answered the phone and I said "is this Mandy" the lady was really rude and said "Who is this!?" I said I am calling about a Pom and my name is Amanda.  She paused and said "Well I am not her I am on a trip and she let me borrow her phone but I should be getting back to her house soon and giving her phone back" She then gave me another number to try. I left a message on that number.

I thought it to be very very strange a person running a business would lend out their phone and if so that the person answering would be very rude.

Another thing I didn't like is on her site she mentioned that she could have the puppy fixed before sending it...who the heck gets a small puppy fixed at 10-11wks old??? That is wrong very wrong. Puppies don't get fixed until they are 5-6months old depending on size.

I finally kind of called Mandy out about now answering my questions and suddenly she said well I have someone else I am working with that is interested in buying the puppy as well. It was kind of like she was trying to rush me to give up the money.  Who would mention that another person is interested in a puppy when they are already working with another? That is not good business.

I end up going that same night to a breeder close by who just listed some puppies and bought one from her.  When I got home I had planned to email Mandy back and tell her forget it.

When I got home she had already emailed me and told me someone else bought her. That she was ready to move on and sent the money and that she would see I had too many questions and wasn't ready to send money.

I emailed her back and pretty much said to her what I am writing to you now, she was very nasty telling me that I was "pushy" and "impatient"  she didn't deal with pushy people. That I was giving her the rush treatment.  I was trying to get information because if you don't act fast on some of the puppies online they are gone quick. I simply asked health questions and wanted reports and she didn't like that.

I said yeah real pushy because I wanted to check the health of the puppy first. The more I asked questions about health and the puppy and didn't talk money the longer it took her to respond.  Then suddenly someone else was interested? She just didn't like the fact that I wanted a vet report and didn't just send the money.

She said that it was rude of me to tell her my days off of work "demanding" she was sent that day without asking her what she wanted. She said she needed at least a 3 day notice and the day I was asking about, not demanding, was a week away.

She said that I was just mad because I didn't get that puppy.  (So glad I didn't, I found one so much better with a great pedigree and that was local) She then continued to be very nasty to me in the emails not business like at all.  I finally had to block her from sending me more emails. I did not want to deal with her nonsense anymore.

I hope that if you are thinking of buying a puppy from Mandy that you think twice!

poor choice of words that I chose

AUTHOR: ella2009 - (USA)

I should have never mentioned that Mandy is not reputable. She does have a reputation of being a wonderful breeder of pet poms. I have seen many happy faces and touching written emotions from happy owners/buyers on her web site. I, myself sent her photos and a nice note (not knowing the mouth thing yet, so I didn't mention it).  I think that I'm probably one of the rarest complaints or cases that she's ever had ..and for this I am sorry. That's probably why it is so hard for her to accept. But we all have to agree, sometimes these things just happen.

But the information I have gotten is true and accurate...and I do have more than one opinion...even friends were shocked and felt bad for my dog. I don't want to discredit anyone, but I hope the photos make it clear that this could not have been over looked. I suppose I could take her to the dentist for pictures now that the teeth have been pulled, and the repair cost that would be needed to make my dog's bite as close to normal if possible. I just don't want to spend anymore $. Like I said I already own her now for an unexpected $1,900.. , any normal/typical  maintenace or any illness etc I am happy to take care of with all my heart. I want nothing more than to keep my dog happy and healthy. She is healthy....just has nasty teeth.

I'm more disappointed than angry that this was the way things were handled and that a woman I truly liked..and myself are in this exhausting dilemma. I just want it to end. Mandy, everything I'm saying regarding the prices and opinions, are valid.(at least here in Fla) ...honest! Our professionals are just as qualified as anywhere else.

Anyone reading this, I want Mandy to know, that by meeting me somewhere on this.. does not mean her reputation should be tarnished, or admitting she intentionally did anything wrong..I believe it would even make her look better..I never lied or deceived you about the wonderful life I would and do give my dog...I know how selective of where you place your babies...I do love her

and I truly don't think that people will be comming after you to be paying for every little thing....probably 90% or more of your dogs never have big problems that deserve this kind of compromise, I'm sure...by the smiles I see.

Please understand that the dicounting the dog to $1,100  from $1,385, so that the $1,385 would also include shipping.. . was appreciated. But nothing was mentioned about "severity' of teeth..only got an email stating it was not uncommon to retain a "few". Maybe you truly didn't realize yourself and just took vets word. Just because something doesn't appear to be bothering a dog, doesn't mean it's healthy/good for the dog.

I maintain my position that I don't think this is fair and you should take more responsibility. There are exceptions to every rule..and it's true... that almost any  breeder knows of a pre-existing condion that can be repaired, the have it taken care of before shipping....never heard of a breeder that wouldn't. Doesn't make any sense....
