I'm going to start out by saying call me "Tim", not my real name. I was employed previously by Manheim Detroit, in a capacity as a contractor/temp. I too was offered, actually closer to pressured to buy a car of my choosing off the floor using a dealer to facilitate this. My immediate superior, an employee of Manheim was to set this up for a few hundred dollars payable to her and another kickback to the dealer. I was also instructed to get as many of my friends and family on board for this scheme. I was told for every person I refer to come in and bid with the dealer my boss would give me $50 kickback. I was told it's a good deal and to basically play ball that this is how things are done. I thought this was very unethical and reported this to HR, I was terminated on made up grounds, unrelated, shortly thereafter. Security has threatened me with harm. I already reported all inches parties to the Michigan Department of State. I can also tell you that some cars were previous wrecks or stolen cars that had titles and VIN plates from other cars applied on premises. Manheim knows fully and supports criminal activity.
