Ken Soloman claimed to be a UC Davis Rugby player raising money for a trip to Australia selling "educational" textbooks for Benneof Children's Hospital.  These were actually a "Highlights" magazine claimed to be a 2 1/2 year subscription.  He had no documentation to link UC Davis, their Rugby team with his activity.

After he left, I researched both the UC Davis team (he is not listed as a member) and Marquis Fulfullment Agency and was not surprised to find the disconnects.  Don;t be fooled!  Send charity via charity and not lying door-to-door salesman smelling of cigarettes passing themselves off as do-gooders.

Got ripped off!

AUTHOR: Patty - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, February 05, 2012

On Saturday evening the same guy mentioned above came by my house on 33rd Avenue in San Francisco while I was at work.

When i got home my husband said he donated magazines to a hospital for the UC Davis rugby team. He paid $50 cash. I looked in horror as he handed me the phony receipt. Receipt reads, " First subscription should arrive within 120 days." That's a red flag already. Magazines do not take that long to arrive.

On the receipt, The seller did not complete the sold to portion and the address to whom the magazines were to be sent did not make sense. I realize my husband was doing a good deed. But the scam clues were there. What's a UC Davis rugby player doing in SF selling magazines out of Georgia? And how will this raise money for the team?
