I was sick of on line dating and thought I would give a match maker a try. I met with Joann and Steve and they were very polished. Asked a lot of questions and told me they have 60+ men that met my criteria and convinced me to purchase 5 dates for $2,000.
I agreed to pay for 5 "matches", which are defined as actual meetings. Since I signed up in September of 2007, I have met 2 men. Now they say they have no men who are interested in dating me. When we met Joann said she had over 60 men that met my criteria and my list of 5 things was "easy".
I have not had a match from them since October and have contacted them many times. They say no one wants to meet me, but before they had more than enough men.
I would love to go on local media or write an article for a local paper to discuss their service.

How Can You Be Sure you Won't Get Ripped off on the Internet.....

Since there are so many rip-offs on the internet, how can you be sure that the photos of the gorgeous woman aren't fake and teh REAL person posting them is not some 400 pound Transsexual named Bonnie who used to be known as Boris?
Or the handsome hunk isn't some human trafficker in real life and has posed as a teenager so he can run off with your kids and sell them as sex slaves somewhere in the Middle East?
On the Internet, ANYBODY can be WHOEVER they want to be!
I checked out a "Free special" on a matchmaking Internet site which I WILL not name here and it turned off to be a RIp-Off. The site is listed in Rip Off Report and I am very glad I looked here before I sent them any of my money. THE ENTIRE THING APPEARS TO BE A MONEY GRABBER ---THEY PROMISE YOU A HONEY BUT THEY JUST GRAB YOUR MONEY!
And their radio commercials make me SICK--DITTO THE DOG SHOW COMMERCIALS THEY HAVE ON TV. ONly those ugly folks are NOT dogs, they are just working on the commercials until they can get onto the Jerry Springer Show or one of the Judge shows.
I HATE PEOPLE LIKE THIS WHO PREY ON LONELY WOMEN!!!!
SUPPOSE THEY HAD FIXED YOU UP WITH A PSYCHOPATH OR A WIFE ABUSER OR A SERIAL KILLER OR A MAN WITH RATHER "UNUSUAL" TASTES IN ROMANCE?
You are lucky you got out alive.
I would filed Theft of Services but I think that Fraud by misrepresentation would get be better. After all, I don't think they put a gun to your head and forced you to sign up.
They are counting on you noit coming forward as they are relying on the image of the matchmaking services as being a place where people who are allegedly social failures come to meet other social failures.
NOT that YOU fall in that category...
I would go forward and contact the News media. After all, siomebody special might see you in TV or hear your voice on the radio and decide that you are the woman for him and things will work out.
WHAT A WAY TO MEET PEOPLE!
MAYBE YOU COULD SHAME THESE MATCHMAKING SHYSTERS INTO GIVING YOU YOUR $2,000 BACK!

I know someone who has sued them and won their money back! Without a lawyer!

Your story is not a new one where Joann and Steven Ward are concerned. I know someone who only got 1 match out of 6 after being told by Joann and Steven that they had more than 70 matches for them and then told they were too difficult to match after taking their money. They have since won in Municipal Court of Philadelphia (the records are public), and have won their money back.
It was smalll claims court, so they did not need a lawyer, yet The Wards needed a lawyer and had to pay big bucks for him and his time. You have 4 years to sue them since statute of limitations is 4 years.
Don't be intimidated! There is a precedence!!!
