McStay Quality Roofing Mike McStay (owner/president) McStay Quality Roofing Sabotaged and Vandalized My Roof FORT WORTH TX

On 4/26/21 Mike McStay came to my home for what was supposed to be a roof inspection and to give an estimate to either repair 2 problem areas or repair the roof. During the time Mike McStay was on the roof he removed a tarp that was perfectly positioned on the roof to address a leak. He then comes down and says he must send his worker Able over to inspect the roof and give an estimate. When Able arrived he took 3 large tarps onto my roof and lifted up countless shingles and nailed the tarp to the roof with 30 to 50 nails each.

When he was up there I notice him taking photos. So, once Able came down I asked for copies of the photos he had taken and he provided them to me. I then looked at the roof from the street level and realized how bad the 3 tarps made my roof look from the street. I immediately contacted Mike McStay and told him I don't think I would be able to use Able because I was not comfortable with how he had put the tarps on the roof and I wanted them taken down. At this point I had not noticed they were being secured with countless nails.

The next day Able knocked on my door. I was on an important call and could not get to the door immediately. Once I finished the call I heard noises on my roof. I then looked out my window and saw Able's truck outside my house. I then went outside and found that Able had climbed onto my roof without my permission. I do not know how long he had been up there. I  quickly said to him he had no right to go onto my roof without my permission. He soon came down with the three tarps and left.

It rained the next day really hard and I noticed a leak appeared in the area where I had a tarp up there as well as countless other areas. I immediately contacted Mike McStay and told him about the problem. He became very rude and told me the leaks were not his fault and blocked my calls(I have photos of the 3 large tarps placed on my roof by McStay Quality Roofing). I later filed a complaint with the BBB and he responded and acknowledge he did place the tarps on my roof.

We never had a contractual agreement...he was only supposed to inspect the roof and give me a bid. It is my belief MQR sabotaged/vandalized my roof to secure they would get the roofing job once I was ready to have the work done. However, this is unethical business practice and the act itself is criminal. It is even more hurtful that after he did it he admits on his BBB response to my complaint he did it but accepts no responsibility for his wrongdoing.
