Today I was "let go" at MDS communications. I figured i would write about the company since im sure alot of people have questions who are starting their job there. Here it goes, the reason they hire all the time is because they DO have a high turn over rate. Their employees are disposable and they could care less about anyone they hire. Training is only four days long and then they throw you on the phones. You have to make it through the first 2 weeks on the phone with very VERY little help and support. If you go to talk to a trainer to get help with calls they sit down with you for  5 minutes listin to 2 or 3 calls and then say oh you are doing good keep up the good work. NO constructive criticism at all. They have what is called a CS3 it is a higher level of caller who bonuses from calls for all the donations they collect. I tried to listen to CS3's calls by asking and my trainers said oh no their too advanced you cant listen to them. Well if their so advanced why cant i learn from what their doing obviously its been working long enough for them to keep their job and on top of that have bonuses. Apparently CS3s have more leniency in what they can say, Hell its working for them can i have more leniency so i can keep this job for at least another week lol. I was written up last week because i missed a day, it was my 21st birthday heaven forbid. 2 weeks later I missed another day but brought in a doctors note and it wasn't good enough. They said you can only miss one day out of the so called training period. Once your out of training which happens after getting 85% or higher in donations 2 weeks in a row they supposedly have more leniency in missing work, good luck making it passed that. The trainers suck, they fire people left and right, and basically don't care about helping you keep your job because their too worried about their own. The only people they have work at this place are old crippled people who are practically dying and obese people.

Love my job!

AUTHOR: @home - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 23, 2015

I am treated with respect, do a great job and would do anything I could for my coworkers. Highly recommend MDS! It's nice to be with a company that really does care. Too bad a few slugs make complaints. Working from home after a shocking layoff almost a year ago. MDS gave me a second chance to do what I love. Thank you Jay and Laurie!

Grow Up

I have been with the company for around seven years now and I think that your "facts" are incorrect. The training is on par if not better than most other telefundraising places , Any job Ive ever worked at frowns on absenteeism, and for your birthday? Really? Grow up! When you get a job you commit to working said hours a day for said days a week. And they let you know coming in the door what the policy is when it comes to absences . I know people who have been with the company for 18 years ! Its not uncommon to talk to people who have been there for 5, 6, or 7 years and not just a few.

If you were fired for performance then you just didnt make the cut plain and simple. Quit trying to blame your poor performance on others and step up and assume resonsibility for your own shortcomings.  And by the way, Im not old or crippled and no where close to dieing and I only weigh 165lbs.

u must be smoking

this is a professional company that pays top dollar to there employees. just like any job missing time in your first few weeks is never good. maybe u should get your priorities straitened out, or go work for some company that doesnt care. i have been an employee here for 4 years and they only keep the best of the best. if your cant perform you will most likely not have a successful job here. as far as the different levels of callers, its kinda based on how good your are on the phone, which depends on the person. obviously if your missing training time, you missing valuable time that can make u better at your job. the more money u raise the more money u make. they start at around 14$ per hour which is the reason why the bar is so high. i am what is know as a cs3 and average around 120-130% of goal. 85% is cake. my bonus can range from 160$ to 220$ per week on top of my hourly. on a good week i can average 20$-24$ per hour. which is exactly why there so strict. i know people with degrees who make less. the bottom line of this rebuttal is this company is a great place to work, and u should be happy u even got considered for employment as they only hire a small percentage of its applicants. the job is stressful but at the end of the day i know u made a difference in the world. this is a place where u raise money for non profit organizations like st jude, salvation army, and various ministries. most of the people who get fired, get fired because of self inflicted wounds. like thinking your 21st b-day is more important that your job. a recommend anybody to apply and if your lucky, u can get a first hand experience at a VERY unique job. the owner walks around the building for god sakes and interacts with the employees. im talking about the CEO will talk to you with respect, ask opinions about the job, take advice about certain calling programs. name one company were the lowest level of workers ( grunt workers ) can interact with the ceo on a daily basis. this is the BEST job anyone can have without a degree in my opinion.

Unprofessional

AUTHOR: Discouraged - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, March 23, 2012

I also worked at MDS for 2 yrs. the last person must be Management, they no longer pay 14 ph and when I got sick they suggested I voluntarily resign, then when I felt better I could come back. Well they denied me. As far as putting forth a little effort, I asked, everyday, what am I doing wrong, I was told I was doing good and was doing what I was supposed to. I even had a filter run on me, I totally screwed up on a call and it happened to be the one QA listened to, and out of 20 calls in a row, they listened to, which is normal when that happens, that was the ONLY call I messed up on.

FACT: if they want you there, you get put in good programs that make money, If you have half a brain and try to use it, you get put in programs that never get donations. So if you have a complaint about your supervisor or team lead, You will loose your job and they will say its your fault for not trying.

rebuttal about MDS Corp in Mesa AZ

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 13, 2012

I just wanted to say that I worked for MDS for over 5 years, and while it was difficult to get thru the training period, if you followed the rules, paid attention, and put some effort into the job, it was possible to get thru the first month and then you did have some autonomy with the calls. The initial job description was that the calls were to be verbatum. Follow the script. It works if you do what you are instructed. I have to say, there were times when I hated making calls, but every job has it's down side. MDS was very good to me, I was ill off and on after the first 2 years I was there, and they held my job for me, worked with me when I needed to change my hours, and I happen to be one of the old people, (56 yrs) and I weigh 197 #'s.And I walked with a cane and at times needed a wheelchair. I hope you never require surgery or become ill, heaven forbid if you should become "old and crippled". I also know how to do the job requirements, follow the rules, and I don't know of any employer who will say, "oh, take the day off after partying all night on your 21st birthday" Grow up! You need to hang on to a job in today's economy. Put in 8 hours work if you expect to recieve 8 hours pay. I think 14$/hr to sit on your behind and make calls is not a bad deal.
