This company charged me from November 2006 thru February 2007 for a voice mail service that it never provided. Voice mail has never been installed on my phone line. Regardless of this fact, this company is refusing to refund my money.

This company had my IP address, email address and other information that I have provided to other sites for other reasons. They claim this information is proof that I did sign up for their service. Even though it was all quite accurate, I have no idea how or from where they got the information. In point of fact, until I discovered the extra charges on my phone bill, I had no idea that this company even existed.

But don't you think its odd that if they really thought you signed up for the service would they really refund you or is it because they know you were tricked?

And yes do always read the FINE PRINT it tells you alot.

good job in getting it done right for you

All charges credited back to my phone bill

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 09, 2007

After voicing my complaint here and turning Members Edge in to the Better Business Bureau, I received a letter from a group of attorneys representing this company. They stated that I did in fact agree to being at least 18 years of age, quoted back to me my email address, IP address and a few of other facts. The attorneys stated that the company did not break any laws, however Members Edge was crediting back to my phone bill all of the charges that they had tacked on.

The attorneys never stated outright in their correspondence that I actually requested any services from Members Edge. They only made it clear that they had quite a bit of information that I HAD provided to OTHER sites.

I am quite pleased that Members Edge opted to credit my phone bill the total amount that they had charged, especially considering that no actual services were ever provided. I consider the matter settled and closed...unless I see future charges from this company on my phone bill.

However, for anyone that has ever clicked a box to receive news letters or updates or anything else from any business or institution that they are unfamiliar with, or been redirected to another page/dialog box to answer questions concerning your age or anything else, READ THE FINE PRINT if there is any and MAKE A COPY OF IT. Know what you are accepting before you click that box and hit ENTER. Print off and KEEP any pages that confirms you have signed up for anything - free or not - so that if you start seeing unexpected charges on your regular bills, you will have some sort of rebuttal against them.

I was naive and didn't know that I could be signed up for services in such a sneaky manner. Until I started seeing the extra charges on my phone bill, I firmly disbelieved that I had signed up for PAID services of any kind. It won't happen to me again.

how voice mail charges come about

AUTHOR: Linda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 27, 2007

apparently you were on a website where members edge voice mail was advertised now for the former company I worked for they advertise trhu a company call Traffix and sites are Group Lotto, EZ Tracks, Music Vixen, Planet Fun Games or REcipe Rewards etc you are then drawn into by an offer of something free and that is where you get signed up for voice mail They make loads of money on a servcie that no one wants or intentially signs up for wha ta better way to earn money its a great setup for them.

And you did not give them your IP address internet captures it though if you are on dail up the IP Addess changes all the time no tto sure about high speed or not but I think that would change as well since we arent a corpation we get what ever IP address availble it sometimes automaticly captures your email address as well.

The former owner of the company I worked for is sueing my becasue I was on this site and had a blog to educate people in suit she claims that I have hurt her ability to make a living What about me earning a living?

The Problem is CONGRESS isnt making laws to protect us the consumer from these under handed companies No laws to stop her or the owner of the company that you are dealing with the Rich keeps getting richier off of us

To many crooked companies use the internet to earn there monies I don't know how they sleep at night In fact I am very glad I was fired I was getting ready to quit anyway. Just wasn't what I expected from a company not even close to my moral standards or ethics
