I called this firm at 2pm one afternoon to determine the wait time for a repair estimate and was told that there was a backlog of two hours and that it would be best to bring it in at 8am (opening time). The next morning I made a trip over to Midas and when they opened Rolland informed me that there was a 3 hour wait but that I could make an appointment for that afternoon, which I did. I brought the vehicle back again at the appointed time and was  told by Roland this time that there was a 1 1/2 hour wait to have the car looked at. When I reminded him of my appointment he just shrugged and pointed to the bays that were in in use.

DO NOT waste your time with these people - They do NOT make appointments nor do they value their customers or their time!!!

I admit to some bias...

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

But trust me, it is not on the side of Midas. If you advanced search for Midas, you would see for yourself I have sided against this business on several reports. This does not mean that IMO every Midas does shoddy work or over charges or charges for services not rendered, but it certainly proves I do not have any vested interest in them. Many of them should stick to mufflers only..and even for that they have been busted ripping people off by selling generic mufflers as genuine Flowmasters.

Where I do have some bias, is against people who think a busy automotive shop can drop everything because they told you when you bring a car in but were simply too backed up to look at it on the spot. It is not always predictable what it takes to fix or diagnose every problem with a car. Bolts can break, new parts could be wrong and they are waiting for new ones, other unforeseen issues, a mechanic may get hurt etc...welcome to Earth once again.

Why do Doctors never see us when we are always on time or early for our appointments ? I always have to wait . But this may mean the Doctor is giving every patient extra care..so even though the appointments are not exact, you will receive the same care when you finally see the Doctor. Unfortunately servicing people, and servicing motor vehicles are full of surprises, every case is different. So we wait. At least with your car you can drop it off..at the Doctors we have no choice but to wait in the office. Do I like it? No. But I am reasonable enough to understand..as long as the Dr. is actually busy with other patients and not out golfing during my appointment.

According to your report you made a trip and they told you they were backed up 3 hours. When you came back for your appointment they told you 1 1/2 hours. It was not like they were getting some kind of gain out of telling you the approx wait time. Sometimes jobs my go quicker or someone else did not show and then they would take you right away. I am sure they did not tell you there was an hour and a half wait and the shop was empty and the mechanics were sitting around playing Texas Holdem.

I was a bit harsh I will confess in my response, I can understand you thought they would be able to look at your car as soon as you drove in..but realistically, a busy shop could mean they are doing things right. Best advice as I stated before, drop the car off when they open and have them give you a call when they look at or service the vehicle. This way you are not pressuring them and you won't have to wait around their shop for hours.

Obvious Bias...

The issue here that the wait time at this particular establishment is exactly the same with or without an appointment.

You folks are obviously owners of, or have a financial interest in Midas Muffler Shops, Inc. Kudos to you for trolling the web and protecting your interests!!!

I made an error...

According to the NORMDIST function, an idiots IQ would be below 20. Closer to three digits would be "borderline deficiency" or "dullness (around 80).

However, "average" (which is not too surprising these days), is considered between 90 and 110. What else can be added to that? Scary actually. If the IQ test included common sense and consideration..I would imagine the curve would change substancially.

I agree with Robert 1000%...

I am surprised actually that the OP has "Dr." in the name..which would insinuate a doctor. I cannot remember ONCE in my entire life that when I had a Doctors appointment, that I did not have to wait a substantial length of time before seeing the doctor.

As stated..welcome to Earth. It amazes me how so many IDIOTS expect for it not to cost time when having their vehicle repaired or diagnosed. Sure, the selfish a*holes do not care if the customer before them is properly taken care of...as the whole world only revolves around "you".

Not the case. It is almost impossible to predict what every vehicle brought in for an appointment to be serviced will actually require. It is not like Midas has an unlimited amount of mechanics on deck just waiting for your car to come in. Does not work that way.

If you know you are bringing your vehicle into a busy shop for repair...anyone with half a brain would consider dropping it off when the place first opens, have a ride to work or back home or where ever, and instruct the place to call you when said repairs are completed, or if any other work is required.

Reports like this make me wonder if the average persons IQ is somewhere in the double digits, instead of triple where we all assume even an idiot would be close to.

Welcome to Earth

Obviously you have never visited this planet before, so I'll help you out.

On this planet, businesses often get very busy. Auto repair shops also tend to get cars stranded on lifts due to other repairs needed, or because the parts sent by the parts stores are wrong.

The shop advised you of this.

You are unreasonable. Good luck finding a shop that never has this problem. There will be a reason for it, and you'll be unhappy when you discover it.
