one day my car stared to overheat, now I'm knowledgeable enough to know what overheating could do to your car so i stop immediately and waited for the car to cool down and the next day i made one of the biggest mistake of my life by taking my car to MIDAS!

so i went there like one hour before they close than the guy checked it in said that he had clue what the problem was he said that maybe it was cause of a leak on the radiator so i decided to leave it them so the next day they called me an said that I had a problem with the engine that I had blown a head gasket and stretched the engine now when heard those words i told the guy that that was impossible because the car only overheated once and for less than 5 minutes it didn't even went to the red spot on the thermometer he's answer was that's how i received its going to cost you over 3000 to get it fixed i was very upset that hung up on him and went to talk to him in person but nothing I could do i had no prove of condition of the car before i took it in but i know i did not had blown a head gasket or did  the other stuff.

but I'm pretty sure they ran the car for a long time because my gas was low and i had coolant all over the front end of the car (that's what happens when a head gasket is blown)their excuse was that they had spill some antifreeze when they filled the tank they were trying to make me pay for stuff they did and they knew they could get away with it!!!

Overheated

AUTHOR: Mrtim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 03, 2009

You stated that the car overheated and you shut it off immediately, which is a good idea. The problem is that the head gasket failure more than likely lead to the overheating in the first place. The gasket(s) fail, coolant leaks, then the car can overheat. Also, you said that it was only for 5 minutes, but heat builds and disapates with time, so the event may have appeared only to be 5 minutes but it takes longer for the heat to go down. So it really sounds like your car overheated due to a head gasket failure, and the coolant they had in the shop was from them attempting to check the condition.

I know this well because the same thing happened to me with a 1994 Mustang I had, so I have been in your position.
