Milbradt Lawn Equipment $100 to air up my tractor tires!!! St. Louis Missouri
*UPDATE Employee: Please lets Tell The Whole Story
I dropped off my oldie-but-goodie John Deere 180 riding mower at Milbradt Lawn Equipment so they could inflate the new tires I had purchased and installed myself (as I do not have a commercial grade compressor in my garage!).
In calling to see if it was ready to pick up, I was informed that the fee for the "inflation service" was over ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!
I was told that there were inner tubes needed to properly inflate the front tires (a reasonable thing to do) which were $17 each.
So - of the $106 invoice, only $34 was for parts.
THE REMAINING $72 OF THE INVOICE WAS FOR AIRING UP THE TIRES!
WHAT A JOKE! (so funny I forgot to laugh) :-(

Please lets Tell The Whole Story

Lets tell the whole story first he dropped off the mower before we opened and was left in our parking lot tied down to a trailer with a cover over the mower that was tied down also so the mechanic had to uncover it remove the tie downs and get it off of a trailer that was not attatched to anything. There was more work involved then just airing up the tires the tubes had to get inside the tires some how in order to be aired up. To install the tubes both wheels had to be removed from the mower then the tires had to be taken all the way off of the rims (by hand there is no machine) because they were so rusted the new tubes would of been ruined so we had to wire brush the rust at least smooth as not to puncture the new tubes.
We then reinstalled the tires with the new tubes aired them up and reinstalled on the mower. The rear rims were rusted also but not as bad but we did have to raise the unit up to get the tires to seat on the rim. We then put the mower back on the trailer and tied it down and reinstalled the cover/tarp over the mower. As you can see it was more than just simply airing up the tires all the above work is what you $83.00 in labor you were charged paid for. No where in your owners manual does it say a commercial grade air compressor is needed to simply air up the tires so why couldn't you "Simply air up the Tires?"
