Language of a Thief

AUTHOR: Jentingh1 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 10, 2009

I do not believe I have heard the kind of language that creditreport.com employees use when dealing with customer service issues. Any business that refers to customers as "stupid", "idiots", or an "a*s" is self evident of what customers mean to that business. Basically this organized criminal activity is saying "yea we stole your loot and there is nothing you can do about it."

Victims of creditreport.com do have recourse. Please read the surrounding complaints posted on this site. An important element is having evidence of the criminal activity. If you did not know, you can download a web page and use that as evidence. Once on the web page, click on your file link and go to the "save as"
on the drop down and then click "save" in the 'my documents'. You can then print a hard copy of what YOU were provided. There very well may be disclosures that are unseen on your monitor.

I have compared my printed hard copies for the disclosure language the very rude creditreport.com employees say is provided and found none of that language. Of course once the heat is turned up, that language may come into view on the web page. Also save ALL of your correspondence with these outfits, including all requests for cancellation.

Be concious of sabotage as well, a destructive thread may very well be attached to emails.

By consumers sharing information on sites such as ripoffreport.com these scams can be shortened before many more are victimized as we have been.

Good luck!

You file that fraudulent report

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 09, 2009

and watch the 'feds' laugh there a** off at you as we do here.
The website tells you right on the first page exactly what the deal is and even go so far as to tell you exactly where to get the absolutely free report. They couldn't NOT hide it anymore than they have. You are just an a**.

creitreport.com is wire fraud that needs reporting

AUTHOR: Jentingh1 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 09, 2009

creitreport.com obtains privileged information then either uses that information to bill unsuspecting users, or if the person promised the "free credit report" has no credit card account, the privileged information is then released to companies that use the privileged information for solicitation purposes.

Report this wire fraud to the feds at www.fbi.gov/whitecollarcrime

Let the feds decide if it is indeed a fraud!

The true nature of the business is the credit monitoring...

AUTHOR: Nancy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 08, 2009

In July of 2008, I decided to order my free credit report online. I did a search on "free credit report" and found...creditreport.com at the top of the list (not in the paid listings). I ordered my free credit report from creditreport.com. I'm a reader. I read everything, especially when buying online. No where did I see anything about being charged $12.95 for credit monitoring. Not on the front page, not as I was filling out the form, no "click here for terms of service" - absolutely nothing.

If I had seen it, and believe me, I would have seen it if it was there at that time, I would have known something was wrong. Why? Because what I found on their website today is worded like the old "automatic Opt In" schemes of the past. The consumer is automatically signing up for credit monitoring when they order their so-called free credit report and must call and cancel in 7 days. The real nature of free credit report sites is to hook consumers into charging fees for credit monitoring.

When I called creditreport.com to cancel, they couldn't find any account to cancel. They searched by my last name and still there was no account. They asked me for a username. What user name? I didn't even know I had an account with them. What was so amazing to me was how they got my debit card info to make the charges. This was a free credit report. I didn't need a credit or debit card. It was free.

I was charged $12.95 a month starting in August 2008 for something I didn't want or need. Refund! creditreport.com was rude, pushy, never gave a refund and failed to cancel charges, because I was charged again in January. I called to cancel in November.

Normally, when a company offers a service, the customer has the option to get the service, "Opt In" or refuse the service, "Opt Out." This is how ethical companies do it. Many unethical companies use the "Opt Out" scheme to get consumer business by hook or by crook. In other words, the consumer is automatically signed up and has so many days to cancel or "Opt Out."

The FTC knows about this "automatic Opt In" ploy with free credit report websites and has been having an ongoing battle of wills with them about it. Experian's Freecreditreport.com was fined $950,000 for such behavior in 2005. http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2005/08/consumerinfo.shtm

Do a search on any search engine with "free credit report" and see what you get. The top three or four websites are paid sites, then and only then do you get the official website. And guess what? It doesn't say one word about being "the official website" for your free credit report. I don't see the FTC doing public service announcements about the official site and how to keep from being ripped off by so-called free sites.

Only in the past couple of months are free credit report sites putting detailed disclaimers on the true nature of their business on the front page and providing a terms of service page. How do I know? Three months ago, a neighbor used creditreport.com due to their TV and radio advertising. She, like many consumers, didn't know about www.annualcreditreport.com - the official free credit report website. One month later, she discovered a charge on her credit card for $14.95 for credit monitoring. She didn't see anything about credit monitoring or other service fees and didn't recall entering her credit card info.

YES YOU DID

AUTHOR: Tony - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 24, 2008

It's in black and white that you will be charged and enrolled in a monitoring service. And yes you can cancel. Call and demand. And since the card is in your name for the other people, demand it for them too. This is not a 'bait and switch'. PEOPLE, take some accountability for your actions.

This isn't directly directed toward you , but for everyone who complains and says negative things about this company because of their sloppy work. I'm blown away by people who call in claiming that CreditReport.com has committed fraud, that they were scammed, that they did not authorize this, that they only wanted a free credit report. I do my best to state the facts about what the website states, why there is a charge on their CC, and the value and importance of the credit monitoring service and yes, I honestly believe in the monitoring service. And NO, I don't believe you deserve a refund. The company paid money to get you that report, and monitoring your credit files cost them money too.

If I could be brutally honest with a customer, I might say something like this:

'Mr/Ms Customer, are you stupid? Why do you think we ask for your credit card? Our website clearly states (all over the place) that you are signing up for a free trail of our monitoring service and in the process will also receive a free credit report. In fact, if you had actually read the fine print that is on EVERY page you must navigate through when signing up, it clearly states that YOU WILL BE BILLED for our credit monitoring service after your free trail ends. Sure, the text is not in large bold underlined print, but you're stupid if you ignored it. And yes, we have been billing you for the last four months. You didn't know this?! Do you read your monthly credit card statements? You don't?! Then you are even more stupid. We also send you an email every two weeks minimum. Do you read your email? Do you ever check your junk email? You don't?! Well, then, you deserve to be charged simply because you're beyond stupid."

I also love it when I get a phone call from a customer and they have their credit card or bank on the line, absolutely confident that I will kowtow and admit we scammed them. Once I state the facts, the cc/bank let's their client know they are responsible for the charges, not CreditReport.com. I'm sure the banker also thinks, Stupid moron".

'So Mr/Ms. Customer, rather than blame CreditReport.com and MNI for scamming you, consider the fact that you are sloppy, and need to do a better job of looking at the terms and conditions", especially if you are entering your CC#. In fact, since you're so sloppy and stupid, you probably need the credit monitoring service you're being charged for. Your stupidity makes you a prime candidate to become a victim of ID theft or fraud.'

Ah, feels good to finally say what I've wanted to for the past month.

I SECOND THIS COMMENT, I AM ALSO A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP AND YOU PEOPLE NEED TO READ WEBSITES MORE CAREFULLY. IT'S NOT STATED IN BOLD LETTERS. HOWEVER IT DOES STATE IN PLAIN AND SIMPLE ENGLISH THAT IF YOU DO NOT CANCEL BEFORE YOUR TRIAL EXPIRES YOU WILL BE BILLED 12.95 A MONTH FOR THIS SERVICE. WHICH ALSO IS NOT FOR THE REPORT BUT FOR THE MONITORING SERVICE, WHICH IT STATES 3+ TIMES THAT YOU WILL BE ENROLLING IN, AND THAT YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL BE BILLED. WISE UP DUMB ASSES, THIS IS NOT FRAUD AND YOUR LAWYER WILL TELL YOU THIS. YOU HAVE NOT BEEN SCAMMED, YOU ARE AN IDIOT! THIS IS YOU NEEDING TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE WITH YOUR CREDIT OR YOUR DEBIT CARDS. SECONDLY "USING YOUR CHILD SUPPORT CARD" TO ORDER THIS REPORT IS PROBABLY NOT A GOOD IDEA EITHER...BAD PARENT...AND I'M NOT JUST SPEAKING TO YOU, AND I'M ALSO NOT SAYING YOU USE YOUR CHILD SUPPORT CARD, HOWEVER I DO TALK TO IDIOTS THAT HAVE USED IT FOR THIS PURPOSE. BUT TO EVERYBODY WHO ORDERS THIS FRICKING REPORT. DON'T BLAME THE ECONOMY OR SOMEONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER FOR YOUR STUPIDITY. IT IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT ORDER THESE THINGS AND EXPECT TO GET A REFUND FOR YOUR MISTAKE. YOU DESERVE THE MONEY YOU LOST BECAUSE YOU ARE A F ING IDIOT AND YOU WERE IN TOO BIG OF A HURRY FOR INSTANT GRATIFICATION.... DIDN'T YOUR MOM EVER TEACH YOU THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS FREE? AND THAT IF IT IS FREE THERE'S PROBABLY A CATCH SOMEWHERE? IF NOT SORRY ABOUT YOUR LUCK.....BUT I GUESS IT IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO ORDER THIS REPORT AND THINK YOU WERE SCAMMED THAT GIVE ME SOMETHING TO DO EACH DAY WHILE I'M AT WORK.....SO THANKS FOR GIVING MORE WORK!!!
