mobilecombustion.com added a 9.99 charge to my mothers phone line when she requested a pin number be emailed to her. She was unaware of the addtional charges and they were billing her for horoscopes that she finds offens, Internet

My mother has a share phone on my account. This company tricked her into a horoscope reading on her phone at the cost of 9.99 a month plus taxes and fees. As a share phone she is not authorized to add or remove services so I feel the phone company, AT&T in this case should share some responsibility. They should be required to verify authorization with their customers. This alone would stop a ton of internet fraud. This service was even more offensive in view of the fact that horoscopes are prohibited within my mothers religious beliefs. Shame on them. Please let everyone know that mobilecombustion.com is a fraud and a ripoff that preys on unknowing victims, the elderly and the not so savy internet users.

I have a screen shot from this site. I agree it is the one of the stupidest services ever to sign up for. But how is it a "trick" that there is a charge for this? Another good way to stop internet fraud is not sign up for crap, or tell others who share the account that you do not give them permission to sign up for this crap. According to the terms if your mother is over 18 years of age this service is available...she can agree to the terms on the site or not..which apparently she agreed or someone else with your cell phone number clicked the "I agree". Perhaps they hope to increase monthly charges by providing a useless service like this..so it is important to know what you are agreeing to before you agree to it.
Your phone service provider has no real way of knowing who is or is not authorized to add or remove services..that is the primary account holders responsibility. If someone has the correct information to add or remove services that is what the company will go by. If there was anything agreed to that you did not authorize, the phone company would hold the person not authorized responsible..which would be your mother in this case.

Available to users over 18 for $9.99 per month charged on your wireless account or deducted from your prepaid balance for 3 alerts per week on T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Virgin Mobile USA, Cellular One, Cincinnati Bell, Centennial Wireless and Unicel.
