Moissanites vs. Diamonds

AUTHOR: iomoon - ()

POSTED: Monday, March 31, 2014

There should be a rip off report on DeBeers. Wait, there probably is.

You do realize that DeBeers is banned from selling directly in the U.S. because of price fixing, right? Diamonds are not worth thousands of dollars. They just withhold the stock to make demand go up and sell to the U.S. through indirect channels. At least Moissanite.com is honest with its consumers from the get go. In other words, you're being ripped off by the people you're trying to defend.

Moissanite

Moissanite is man made and beautiful. I love the beautiful and blink of mossanite. I never misrepresent it. It is a man made product. No more ... No less.  I disagree with NEVER buy it. I use moissanite when I travel internationally. It is easier to hand over a moissanite than a 10k or 50k diamond. Reputable jewelers who accurately advertise moissanite are simply selling a GREAT product. I would prefer a moissanite for the beauty and apperance than a diamond. The engineering specifications are phenomenal. A man is NOT cheap if he buys a moissanite. Just because you do not like them, does not mean  they are a bad product. If they are accurately advertized and sold honestly, why is it bad for the consumer?

Happy Customer

I just got my 1.5 ctw moissanite stone in the mail today, overnight shipping in the most secure package and nicely designed box inside. I did a bunch of research before making the purchase - the owners of moissanite.com hold the patent for cutting moissanite so you can't get closer to the source than this site and the owners, Charles & Colvard, have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau - I read each complaint filed against this company and each one was addressed by company and resolved appropriately, in my opinion. Look for yourselves, but you won't see a complaint from me.

Anyway, the stone is absolutely Gorgeous! I am thrilled with the 700$ price tag because the jeweler setting the stone into my engagement ring said a stone of equal size (1.5 ctw Moissanite = 1.9 ctw Diamond, 7.5 mm diameter), cut (round brilliant), and clarity (I/J according to the jeweler) would have cost 20,000$. I was sceptical about being ripped off - I was hoping they weren't going to send me cubic zirconium, in which case this would be a very different review, but the diamond test came back positive for diamond, and as there is no other stone in the world that has the physical appearance and false positive of diamond, I was assured that it was indeed what I had paid for. I am a scientist so the prospect of a man-made, lab-synthesized stone was fascinating to me.

Moissanite is very similar to diamond in a number of ways but I won't bore you with the details of how it is superior to CZ, has physical and chemical properties similar to those of mined diamond, and is more rare in nature than diamond (which is in fact a commonly occurring mineral on Earth). Do some research on the internet about this mineral and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Moissanite is the right choice for those women who truly love their man and want him to spend his money wisely! A single piece of jewelry, while a great sentiment and usually a good investment (when the price of gold and jewelry isn't at an all time high in the current economic climate), should not cost your loving future husband 25,000$. My fiance and I do not have those kinds of funds to throw around, much like many people out there, I'm sure.

I love the price tag. I love the ring. I love that it looks like a giant expensive diamond that you can be sure I'm going to be showing off for the rest of my life. If you buy moissanite, buy from moissanite.com!

Moissanite - Exactly as Charles & Colvard Advertises

AUTHOR: Joanne1225 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, February 16, 2012

I first learned of Moissanite in 2002 when my future husband and I were looking for an engagement ring.  We picked out a most beautiful diamond, with a price tag of $8 thousand dollars, but I couldn't wear a ring that cost that much money.  Not when there are starving people in our world.  I just couldn't reconcile that with my values.

Then my fiance' told me about a new stone he had heard of - Moissanite - and we went to look at a 1 caret solitaire, in my size!  As soon as I put the ring on my finger I fell in love with it.  I was told that it was a man-made jewel with more brilliance and fire than a diamond, but at a tenth of the cost.  That ring was $800, exactly a tenth of the cost of the diamond ring we had looked at.  That was my ring and we became engaged that very day.

I researched Moissanite at the Charles & Colvard website, where they explain how they make Moissanite, chemically known as silicon carbide.  It is impressive, as are the rings and other jewelry they create.  They never misrepresented their beautiful product.  I was so pleased with my choice and was never embarrassed to have that beautiful ring on my finger, especially when among children that were hungry, or people that had no home.  It met all of the needs of my heart.

In 2008, my husband bought me a new engagement ring. It was another Moissanite ring, as that was what I wanted, but this time it had stones on both sides of the little more than 1 caret stone. It is absolutely stunning and just what we had been looking for.

Moissanite is not a FAKE diamond.

AUTHOR: cbratton - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Moissanite is not a FAKE diamond. it does not try to pass off as a diamond. You people are comparing it to a knockoff designer handbag. Moissanite is moissanite, period.

People prefer moissanite for many reasons, maybe it's a cost factor for a lot of people, myself included, I do not see the point of spending hoards of money on a fancy rock.

If you care what others think, those that DO see your ring aren't going to examine it under a microscope and nag you if its "fake". Or maybe they don't want to support the blood diamond market or slave labor.

Maybe they prefer the superior brilliance and fire a moisannite stone has compared to a diamond even then ANY ring isn't and shouldn't be considered a fake engagement ring.

Many people choose sapphires, rubies, emeralds, pearls, topaz, plain gold/silver, etc. It is an engagement ring if it is given and accepted as such. You choose which you like better, not what others deem "real".

I say, it's real if it goes on your finger and  can feel it there! btw, diamonds have only been "traditional" since the 50' or so, and it was a diamond company that said so ,trying to increase sales. So give yourselves a pat on the back for not buying into marketing ploys.

What?  Let me guess you sell diamonds and see sales falling.  Let me tell you something diamonds are flooding the market causing them to be worth less and, they will eventually be worthless.  Besides they can now create real diamonds in a lab.

Man-made fake diamonds and real diamonds can't be told apart.
