 They emailed me saying my domain expired on 15th August and provided a link to a payment page charging me $75.

The domain in question doesn't actually expire until October and the domain registrant is not this company. The actual registrant charges about $10 for two years.

This company is actually getting you to pay money for no service. They are scammers and need to be avoained at all cost.
