I've been reading

AUTHOR: Lorraine - Geek Consumer Advocate :-) - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 17, 2006

You've done great Steve. I have been following along with the threads while sick, I just wasn't up to posting most days.

It does seem our beloved Legal has faded into the sunset and doesn't want to come play with us anymore. Heck, I even offered to call him on my dime and he declined my offer. When I did call Movieland support, all I got was a tech that didn't seem aware they even had a legal dept. I danced with him for a short time, but I had to lead .... then got bored and said goodbye.

I know a lot were finding processes running when they did an alt - control - delete, that they could then tell to stop running and it would solve the popup problem, but only until they rebooted their computer. That is something Sharon can try for a short term fix to at least get her computer able to be used again. I am not sure if they will be stupid enough to use the same filenames with this new scam as they did with Movieland.

Sharon, if you are still reading here, you could check the Movieland threads on this forum. I posted many times as they progressed and told everyone the fixes I could find to totally get rid of the popup. I'm guessing you will have to do something very similar if not identical to get rid of Moviepass. Whatever you do, do NOT pay them!

You may also want to check for the Movieland remove programs Steve posted about in the threads and see if they will work to remove the Moviepass you have. I feel it's worth a try, seeing how much they are alike.

Last, if some guy named Legal posts on this thread of yours, don't listen to him. He's a company stooge out to rip you off. (I'm pretty sure you already figured that out though after reading what we've had to say.)

Please post and let us know if these suggestions got rid of it for you. Thanks hon. :)

Lorraine...I don't think that "Legal" of "Movieland" will be back here to reply..

Lorraine,

I hammered "Legal" very hard in several posts here on Rip Off Report, and he/she has not responded to any of them.

This is because I totally erased and credibility of Movieland itself and the "Legal" character.

I totally exposed them for the scammers and fraud that they are, and left them with absolutely nothing to respond with.

I made a challenge that could not be met.

I will do the very same thing with any new scam that pops up that smells of Movieland or the "Legal" character.

I guess they have found another domain and a new private mailbox to work out of.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

This looks like MovieLand renamed .. www.moviepass.tv

Here's what I find on a quick search. Where's our 3rd musketeer, Denny, at Steve? Time for the 3 of us to start digging again and get the word out on these guys. I'm pretty sure this is Movieland under another name, given the way it works, where they are located and the fact they are teamed up with MediaPipe. Our old buddy Legal should be arriving shortly to grace us with his denials and lies.

MoviePass? customer service at (866) 431-7720

http://www.moviepass.tv/

http://www.moviepass.tv/?section=terms It starts out saying: "MoviePass offers an application known as MediaPipe (the 'Software') via the Website Moviepass.tv."

One of the terms conditions is a hold harmless agreement.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Sharon you should put more info here on them

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, April 15, 2006

Sharon,

This sounds a lot like an old scam by the name of "Movieland" that has about 70 complaints on this site alone.

Please post any contact info you have for these people so we can see if it is the same operation.

Thanks.
