A decorator I have known for 14 years, Manny Regalado, did not deliver the items that were paid in full. I hired him to redecorate my home, he ws frantic about deposits, lied about the furniture being in his warehouse, asked for full payment and when it was time to deliver the furniture he said he ran out of money. I contacted the companies to see if they had my items and was told nothing was ordered! I had worked with th designer may times over the passt 10 years with no problems. I am in contact with several other clients who he defrauded. Police report has been filed, one client took him to court, won the judgement, but the decorator never showed up.

PLEASE SHARE - FRAUD - MANNY REGALADO - A TO Z CONTRACTING CORP - SEATTLE https://www.atozcontractingcorp.com/community

Hired Manny Regalado to remodel my home after a serious storm damaged my home in December of 2018. I met him when he volunteered to do a small job for a volunteer at Whisker City. He was overly friendly, very forward and constantly kept saying things like, "you're my friend", "friends are the reason I moved up here", "I'm here to make friends". I felt somewhat sorry for him. The volunteer brought him over because Quixote had been killed (see news reports) by the next-door neighbor and she wanted to do something nice for WC. Last night when I spoke with her she said the work Manny had done for her was shoddy and she felt terrible for bringing him to WC. I did not like the guy and he has always made me uncomfortable in a myriad of ways. Sadly, my brother died 3 weeks after Quixote was murdered and I became a caregiver for mom, so to say I was stressed would be an understatement. Manny clearly saw an opportunity and a Mark.

Our shelter manager read his reviews on Yelp and Ripoff Report and warned me not to use him. We did have trouble getting him to come back and finish his work. If you come to WC I can show you his mistakes. I did leave messages for the victims on the above sites but none contacted me back. Then on December 10, my home got hit by the storm and seriously damaged. He had done a fair to a good job on the other work and since I was in a crisis, I hoped hiring him would not be a risk but I was wrong. He is now marketing himself on Nextdoor using photos from the above mentioned small projects.

It would take hours to describe the damage this man did to my home. Had I not been distracted by grief and caregiving and my mother’s recent passing, this would not have gone on for so long. He completely drained my savings account of $120K and it is unknown how much repairs are going to cost. Every day the new contractor finds another thing he did poorly and amateurish. I will post updates as the new contractor finds more issues.

None of the 16 ceilings can lights are in alignment. The holes are bigger than the rims. Can lights have to have "goof rings" installed calling even more attention to the fact that the lights aren't aligned. He nailed the tongue and groove in the ceiling on the surface instead of the valley. Meaning hundreds of holes will be filled. Nearly all the butt ends have a gap.

He installed the wrong electrical line for the built-in oven and did not know how to install the lines to the gas stove so they allow the stove to be against the wall. All his plumbing leaks. He scratched my new hardwood floors in multiple places. He scratched my new stainless stove. The rivets on his pants put divets in my new refrigerator. He nailed my expensive entry door on the surface - 4 nails at each hinge and on the beautiful frame - instead of using screws under the rubber seal. The door does not swing open all the way to the inside because of the way he positioned it. It has to be removed and reinstalled properly. The roof overhang is not square so the fascia boards are not square. His work is not square and plumb. Instead of blending and staggering the boards he cut small boards and butted them to each other and it looks horrible. He did not put in a p-trap for the bathtub. The bathtub leaks at all points and leaked on my hardwood and baseboard. He used pliers against the beautiful chrome fixtures and scratched all the chrome. He did not know he was supposed to put washers in the lines to prevent leaking. He scratched the new kitchen faucet with his pliers making it unusable. All have to be replaced. Bathtub still leaks and is unusable. Bathroom light fixtures installed 1 and 1/12 inches off level from each other. Had to be uninstalled replaced. Did not know how to install glass shower doors. Both are off level and he scratched the chrome rod. Installed bathroom sink using molly bolts so it came loose. Wall had to be opened up, board installed and patched. All of his finish work has to be redone. Holes for pendant lights were cut too large, new larger base plates have to be installed to cover holes. Door to the bathroom too long and scratched hardwood floors and hit toilet so would not open all the way. He cut the trap door to my crawl space crooked and then used a router to cut in for the handle. He cut the hole wonky and too big and that has to be filled and artfully hand-painted to match the hardwoods and recoated.

Not one of the 5 damaged rooms are finished. His work is so shoddy it appears he did most of this stuff for the first time. Worse he bought tools for this job with my money and did not give them too me. An extension ladder went missing.

There were many signs he is a fraud yet I was under so much stress and he cleverly kept a state of confusion in play. He required advance payments and then lied about his hours and days he worked. He had another angle going with returns and credits. He returns items purchased on my credit card to Home Depot for credits and uses the money for himself.

I tried to hold him accountable but it was not possible. My stress was off the charts and I was out of town caregiving and working. I was forced to live in one room without heat and a kitchen and laundry for months. Nothing was done as promised. No deadlines were met. After my mother's funeral two weeks ago, I came home and confronted him with the list of issues and his defense was, "I never told you I knew how to do this stuff". After talking to his other victims, I discovered Whisker City and I were his first construction client. He never knew what he was doing. The only reason I have any hope my roof isn’t going to leak is he brought in Carlos Salazar and a couple of other guys to help him build it. And since they have extensive experience my roof may be okay. It did leak repeatedly for several months and I got those leaks fixed. This winter will be a big worry.

I'm only a week into fixing this mess so I have no idea how bad it's going to get. I’ve hired a new contractor and the new carpenter is excellent and highly capable.

Manny constantly talked about himself and his celebrity on Porch.com and Houzz.com. He bragged about his wealth and when I asked him about his bad reviews he blamed them on his partner ( no idea if he had a partner) name Ron Swing. Ron Swing has multiple lawsuits against him listed on Unicourt. He said he has spent the last 20 years designing high-end homes in Los Angeles and came to Seattle to retire and do projects for fun. He claims he owns a home in Ibiza, Spain worth millions and plans on buying a home with an airstrip in Snohomish County. He claims he has millions in the bank but could not get access to his money to pay rent. I accept that I should have gone with my gut but this was a highly stressful time. I was the perfect mark for this guy. I did ask him for a refund and he said he would but then made up the excuse that he banked at a branch in downtown Seattle and his money was tied up “internationally”. I managed to get $2000 from him.

I spoke to three attorneys of his victims. All have judgments against him in Los Angeles County and have been unable to collect a dime for their clients. I have also talked to three of his victims. Their stories are as bad as mine. He bilked a senior center and even an attorney – a woman of course. I lost my entire savings to this creep. I will testify for anyone who intends to file a claim against him. I’m concerned that he is taking advantage of others on Next Door. He claims he owns the home at 11516 35th Avenue NE, Seattle, Washington 98125, which appears to be owned by Alex Brendan. He is driving a car he claims he’s buying from one of his clients.

I searched Unicourt Records for Los Angeles to view the cases against him. He's been sued many times. Each case shows he was unrepresented and has all default judgments. This means he knows he’s a thief and spends nothing to defend himself.

One more thing. This creep endlessly hit on me. He brought me flowers and commented on my appearance. I pushed back but he kept it up. He used flattery and tried to engage me in inappropriate conversations about sex and romance. I called him out every time but finally gave up when I heard him talking the same way to the guys he brought to the job site. I’m 30 years his senior. I recently talked to all the contractors he brought in and all thought I was his girlfriend. I can only surmise he is using my name and Whisker City to further his fraudulent activities.

His phone number is 206.928.5979. His email is manny.rgalado@gmail.com and mrinteriordesignla@gmail.com.

He is recently licensed in Washington which is very scary:

We here at MR Interior Design enjoy creating rooms with both manufactured and custom items alike to create an experience for our clientele to enjoy daily. As this client has stated I have known and worked with her on multiple projects at her properties, for over a period of 14 years. When furniture, lighting, accessories and or items requiring us to order in advance for any project. We ask for a 50% deposit, when said items are ready to ship to our firm? We then ask for the remaining 50%. If a client wishes to pay 100% of the designed furnishings, that will be left up to their digression. If the project is not ready due to construction efforts and or deliver them to the residence/project.

However, we prefer to deliver said items when all work is completed, the jobsite has been cleaned properly and then we can insure a complete and safe delivery of the approved and designed room furnishings, accessories, artwork and lighting. With regard to this client contacting these companies, nether I or my staff can't be held responsible for what was said, as were not a part of their company. However, if given an opportunity we can reach out to said wholesalers and or vendors, to provide proof of any orders. As I have mentioned to this client numerous times before, their custtom furnishings are built, ava and ready to ship.

This process takes about two weeks and then can be delivered to an address of their choosing. The case this client is mentoning here, can also be found on Yelp, where I invite you to find the facts about this case and many other satisfied clientele over the last 4 years we have been in business and my past 17 years of being an Interior Designer domestically, internationally and now seen on HGTV. These purchased items are still with the manufactures and can be shipped? If the client so chooses, or a credit can be issued for any non-custom furniture. A standard policy held by almost all furniture stores and manufactures across the country.
