I contacted Mufflers For Less via phone to get a estimate on repairing the exhaust on a 1990 Ford Mustang GT.Over the phone I was given a price of $200.00 flat for replacing the exhaust from the catalytic converter back. This was done by phone and the car was dropped off in the parking lot in next couple of days. When I dropped off the car all I did was give the keys to the person at the front desk and he told me when to come back to get the car.At no time was the car pulled in their garage to be shown to me on a lift to see the extent of any repairs. The person with me can attest to that fact, the car was simply dropped off in the parking lot and the keys were dropped off and that is all that happened.

Later that same day I recieved a phone call from a mechanic at Mufflers For Less stating that the catalytic converter was "shot" and for and extra $80.00 and some odd dollars he would replace the catalytic converter.I told him to go ahead and do the repair so the exhaust would be in good working order.

I went to pick up the car the following day and to my chagrin the convertor was not replaced and only half of the exhaust was repaired, they were suppose to replace the exhaust up to the converter but did'nt,they just welded on to the existing exhaust to save money, and also to avoid repairing a break in a small exhaust line running into the main pipe.I compained to the man at the front desk and he said the extra $80.oo was for the "resonators".That's not what I was told over the phone, which by the way was heard by another individual. Not wanting to cause a scene and also needing my car back really badly for work I paid the bill to avoid a screaming match with a unethical crook.I had the car looked at by competant mechanics and they all agrred the work was a blatent ripp-off.Not only did I wind up paying $80.00 some odd dollars for work not performed(the convertor),they did'nt even replace the exhaust from the convertor back like they said they would.

Regardless I was willing to pay the $200.00,the extra $80.00 is the outrage.I filed a complaint with the BBB and the owner repied I was taken under the car in his garage and shown the exhaust which is a blatent lie,the car was dropped off and nothing more,my brother can attest to that.He also stated they don't give estimates over the phone, another blatent lie.I had two people call the in the following weeks to be given the same estimate over the phone.
