Munday Chevrolet Sold a used car as new Internet

My father-in-law purchased a new car at this dealership. He pointed out to them that the paperwork said it had over 3200 miles on it. There was even a reference to the "first owner" being someone else. His concerns were ignored. That first owner was contacted, but claimed not to have owned such a car. (Note also that when he saw there was no spare tire, he could get no one to help with that either. He had to go out and purchase one elsewhere!)

I work for another unrelated dealer:
A car can be registered licenced and used and the Manufacturer can still consider it a new car under thier Demo programs, where I live the DMV considers it as used.
A reputable dealer sells these cars as Demonstrators. The paper work, advertising and such says so.This is needed for the warranty to start at the delivery milage.
This car stinks of a "Spot Delivery" that went bad. Making it technically a used car under the Manufacturer rules.
A reputable dealer will stand behind the car in refrence to dings scratches missing tires and so on.
A reputable dealer does not take advantage of the elderly.
Please do business with a reputable dealer.

To answer the questioner: First of all, we're talking about elderly consumers.
The Dealership told them that it wasn't unusual for a car to have that many or more miles on it and still be considered new. It took some digging afterwards before they realized this was not the way reputable dealers operate.
(As for the spare tire, they didn't think they needed to make sure the spare tire was there!)

If he was told this was a "new" car and he discovers it has 3200 miles on it and a missing spare...why did he continue on with the sale process?
