I stopped and got gas on my debit card for $20.00 at Murphy stores(WAL MART CONVIENT STORES) took it out plus a $75.00 processsing fee for the $20.00 gas the gas has cleared but they still have yet to credit my account back for the $75.00 even though the $20.00 went thru NEVER USE THESE STORES TO GET GAS ON DEBIT

I use my check card at Murphy all the time - yes as a debit and have never had a single deduction from my account that I did not make. I have been purchasing gas from Murphy for approximately 7 years now.
I think maybe someone has made their own little bookkeeping mistakes and is trying to blame it on Murphy. MMMMM sounds like my husband. That man couldn't keep his records straight if you threatened his life over it.
You take the same chances using any plastic (credit or debit) no matter where you use them. You are never safe using the plastic - try cash only.

I suggest to not use your Debit card whatsoever at a gas station...due to the fact that when you run your card thru as Debit it places a temporary hold on funds up to 75 dollars...the reason they do this is because it is unknown how much fuel you will pump...basically a safeguard on the stations end....When I use my debit card at the pump I always cancel the Debit option and run it thru as credit..works everytime and does not place a hold on my funds. Also not to dispute what you have said about your experience....but it could have possibly been a computer error that caused the 75 to come out....I would contact the District Manager at that Murphy and try to get it resolved.
