National Mortgage Help Center NPV Test Loan Modification fraud, California
*Consumer Suggestion: Beware of fake "National Mortgage Help Centers"
Michael called and questioned me briefly about my loan scenario. Then suggested taking a "test" that would reveal if I was indeed qualified for a "loan modification". He said there was 98% chance of getting a large reduction in my monthly payment, and, unlike the people at JP MORGAN/CHASE - they would be able to push this through because my claim was now 'public record'.
After speaking with one of my state senator's offices, they informed me that is upfront payment method of doing business, with respect to home loan modifications, was completely ILLEGAL. I'm trying to get the charge of $795 withdrawn and removed from my credit card. Time will tell.

Beware of fake "National Mortgage Help Centers"
AUTHOR: Good Samaritan - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, December 28, 2011
There are many fake businesses that use the name "National Mortgage Help Center". The official National Mortgage Help Center is at www.nmhcenter.org and was established in 1995 and run national TV campaigns. Please be aware and watch out for scams that are trying to piggyback and use their name. I almost got suckered by a guy in the Chicago area claiming to be with them, but his website was different. Don't pay any upfront fee's unless its a real attorney/law firm, they are the only ones that can legally accept a retainer fee upfront (I did my research).
