Earlier today I needed some information and typed People Search into the Google box and "Consumer-Guide" recommended this site and said it was used by Law Enforcement and would give you a COMPLETE background check and info such as property ownership and divorce dates etc.
When I tried to use the site it saidI had to pay a one time (year-long fee ) for 29.00 to use it and I thought that was not bad for a YEAR of information (in case I had to use it again). So like a dummy I paid cause after all "Consumer-Guide recommended it. Then it kept bringing up websites I had to contact and pay unless I paid 10.00 to get ADVANCED NetDetective like the Police use...so I clicked on that.
Imagine my consternation when it could not even bring up the Molester who EVERYONE in this community knows and KNOWS is on the Illinois Predators list (for Free !!!)
Then it could NOT bring up information on EITHER of my past husbands (other than the free info you can get from Google (even using their ENHANCED background check.
When I called them they said they could NOT cancel over the phone and sent me a link for a FIVE page form I have to fill out and mail back to them to REQUEST a refund !!!!
Also, they said that the 10.00 they charged to upgrade to Advanced was NON-refundable (but I could use it for 2 more days !!!) Great now I can get no info for another two days; Boy, am I (SUPPOSED TO BE) relieved. They were quite rude on the phone and I am now going to have to have my bank card # changed and let the bank know they are not permitted to charge ANYthing to my account again.
I think they should be taken to court, closed down and made to pay a substantial fine (everything they own) for perpetrating such a fraud (and by the way the link for Consumer-Guide comes back as NON-existent. It is obviously something they set up to divert consumers to their website.... I AM angry...
