Stay away! Worst bank I've ever dealt with. I was ill. A small check was returned due to insufficient funds. This resulted in a return fee that brought my account into the negative range by a few dollars. Before I could get back into the bank to bring the balance back up they charged me $170 in late fees over a 19-day period of time. They were unwilling to waive the charges or work with me in any way. I could not talk to anyone with authority at the bank. I've dealt with several banks in the past few years and this bank has the most onerous fee schedule I've ever encountered. Stay away. Stay away. Stay away,

What is Reasonable?

You sound like an employee of the bank. Look, I didn't offer to the bank my "sob" story when I asked for the fees to be waived. Also, I don't disagree with what you are saying in general, but what is a reasonable fee to charge to maintain a checking account? What is a reasonable fee to charge if a customer's account is overdrawn? What is a reasonable fee to charge, on a daily basis, if an account is negative? How much does it cost a bank to maintain an account that is negative by a few dollars? How much does it cost to communicate to another organization that the funds in my account are not available? My account costs something like $15.00 a month to maintain according to Nevada State Bank. They charged me $35 to communicate to another organization that there were insufficient funds to pay an electronic check. This $35 fee brought my account negative and then every day after that I was charged a fee for that negative account. All fees combined amounted to about $170 within a 19 day period of time. Did the handful of missing dollars in my account cost them anything equivalent to $170, a balance that was brought into negative territory by their own fee? What would it cost the bank to waive the fee? They are not "missing" anything. These are fees they invented. Perhaps a small fraction of what they charged would go towards the administration of an account with a negative balance, but I doubt it would be even a fraction of $170. You are correct in that every single bank has similar rules and regulations, but most banks do not have a fee structure this onerous. I told this story to a friend who works at a competing bank and she was shocked at the high fees for a relatively minor negative balance. She also said it was ridiculous they did not work with me to waive at least some of the fees. Therefore, I conclude I was ripped off.

But the banks have no need to give a d**n about WHY you didnt take care of your negative balance. They only care that you DID NOT FIX IT!! You CANNOT expect them to care about your WHY. They only care that as a business you used their services and did not pay it. It has NOTHING to do with your personal life.

They will not work with you because it is your responsability to maintain and ensure that your balance doent get into the negative. You have to understand, EVERYONE HAS A SOB STORY. And they listen to all of them. They are immune to your issues. The best you can hope for is to not get into the negative. As EVERY SINGLE BANK has the same rules and regulations. EVERY SINGLE BANK CHARGES YOU WHEN YOU GO INTO THE NEGATIVE. So there is no relief for your situation.
