Student Loan forgiveness called me and asked about getting rid of my ITT Tech loans and I agreed they went on to tell me I had to pay them and they also got my social. When I told them I was going to show my attorney the paperwork they hung up. Although they have my social at least they do not have my banking information. I can put a lock on my SS#. Please beware

RE: Student Loan Forgiveness
AUTHOR: NFCC - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Friday, February 03, 2017
We believe this is an unfortunate case where Summer mistakenly believes that the organization that contacted her is somehow affiliated with the NFCC. The NFCC is a nonprofit membership organization and does not engage in direct telephone solicitation on its own behalf or on behalf of services provided by its members. Additionally, the NFCC does not directly collect the personal identifying information of anyone – that includes social security numbers.
It is always unfortunate to hear of situations like the one described in Summer’s comment, especially when it appears that a company in question is trying to use the trustworthy reputation of the NFCC for the purpose of misleading people who are in need of financial counseling. Since 1951, the NFCC has set the highest standards of ethical practice and quality in the nonprofit financial counseling and education sector.
The phone number that Summer has associated with her complaint actually belongs to a company called Student Financial Help Center, an agency that is not affiliated with the NFCC in any way. Therefore, any reference to the NFCC name and website is an error and should be removed or corrected. If Summer was contacted in a way that led her to believe the caller was representing the NFCC, we encourage her to report the incident to the Federal Communications Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
