7138 N. Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75247

General Manager of location: Nitin Tiwari aka Nathan Tiwari

 

I came to this hotel tonight at around 10 p.m. and asked if I could sit in the lobby and use the internet to see if I could find a priceline or expedia discount. The young black man behind the counter was gracious enough to say yes. Shortly after I had arrived, a white family walked into the building. The white man was complaining about how a vehicle was parked outside. He was demanding to know whose vehicle it was. I was sitting in the lobby and when he said the vehicle I spoke up and said I would move my car. However, he stood there and continued to berate me and question me in a very hostile manner about why I would park my vehicle where I did. Finally I had enough and told him I don't answer to him. He was a complete stranger. All he had to do was go the front of the hotel and speak to the young man behind the desk. But he chose to approach me on his own.

When I told him I would not answer to him like this was the "Jim Crow" south, his son and wife immediately began yelling at me from the top rafter. They then ran down and ran into my face. All of this was done IN FRONT OF the young black man who was working behind the counter. The older man then started screaming he would 'have me thrown out' of the hotel and unbelievably as soon as he said that he began screaming at the black man behind the counter who immediately picked up the phone and dialed 911 and told them "I" was creating the disturbance!? UNBELIEVABLE! 

When I saw that the black man behind the counter who had saw me be approached and screamed at by all of these family members I decided to leave. He NEVER ONCE approached the white family to try to take command of the situation. He then came over and told me "I" was creating the disturbance even though the customers were screaming at ME! and that "I" would have to leave. I started to gather my belongings when the older man walked up on me in my face and his son blocked my path. His wife started hysterically running around the room screaming at me and then she ran BEHIND the desk of the front desk agent and demanded he throw me out immediately. The agent at this point refused to even look at me and simply said he was 'calling' the cops as I was getting my things to leave. 

When I walked out into the parking lot, the older white man followed me screaming at me and he and his wife both ran after me yelling and badgering me. I made it to my car and had had enough and turned around to go back into Comfort Inn and ask for the managers number. When I went back into the Comfort inn, both the white guy and his son and wife were hovering around the seemingly petrified front desk agent and when I asked the agent for the number to his manager he REFUSED to look up and give it to me and he refused to say it. UNBELIEVABLE! The white man was the one screaming at me still. I still don't have the name and number of the Manager or of the corporate office. 

I left. 

When I called back to speak to someone and request this info again the guy hung up on me. The second time I called he said he was under 'no obligation' to give anyone who wasn't staying at the hotel ANY information about management. I don't believe for one moment he said this on his own recognizance. He was TOLD by someone higher up to say this.

When has it been ok for a customer of an establishment to BULLY that establishment into kicking out someone over a PARKING SPACE?!?!? REALLY?!? It's like its 1960's all over again. What is happening to white people. I wish I would have recorded this incident but I could only quickly snap a few photos.

 CLEARLY it was YOUR FAULT! Nothing racial about it. You were being ghetto and lazy (typical of dallas tx) and you were confronted BY A STRANGER ! Not sure what being a stranger has to do with it. I can gaurantee that you parked as close to the door as possible in a NO PARKING! THATS why he was mad and rightly so. Sorry but this was your fault. A smart person who follows rules confronted you about your sick sense of entitlement and laziness. Stop trying to make it racial to avoid responsibility.

White people are pulling this crap all over the d**n country. Going into establishments and claiming offense at a black person for this or that and having them 'thrown out'. Look at the cases that have made the news of late and when the videos were turned back it was just some white person power tripping. There is still so much racism in this country. I'm sick of it. My family is sick of it too. We won't leave however.

We will stay and protest and fight and do whatever we have to do. We are not SECOND CLASS citizens. And I don't understand the comment from the other poster who insinuated if you weren't a paying customer you had the 'right' to be abused. What the hell is this? That's no type of logic and its immoral and wrong. For that family to block your exit? To continously harrass you? That was wrong. Even if they are 'paying customers' they don't have the right to do that and many businesses would have thrown them out.

***** Years ago a friend of mine who was a housekeeper worked at a hotel and a wealthy white family, their SON, ended up calling her a "N" (short for N----er) because his family had spent a lot of money at the hotel and were always given preferential treatment. 

That same day he called this black woman who was a housekeeper the N word, his family's access to the hotel was stripped. They were told to pack their bags and LEAVE. They had their money given back. They apologized for his behavior but 'having money' doesn't give someone the right to abuse someone else. Using d**n wifi doesn't give someone the right to abuse someone else. ******

This family was in the wrong. They don't have the right to treat you in such a despicable, inhumane and deplorable manner. They were WRONG. Sounds like the video needs to be pulled and their access to this hotel taken away. 

Thank you for bringing this to the attention of the world. I for one, will never ever do business with comfort inn again. No matter where I'm staying. I travel a lot. I will always avoid this hotel from now on.

Videotape

There is a very good chance there is a videotape of the incident. They probably will not share it with you but if you file a compaint with their corporate office the corporate people will most likely pull the video and review. There is probably no audio even if there is video. The only way for you to get to the video will be under discovery if you file a lawsuit.

If you truly were a perspective guest you have more rights to be there versus a non-guest who just wandered in. How long were you there? 10 minutes looking for an Expedia is one thing. 3 hours using their wifi is another matter. You make a lot of assumptions and jump to a lot of conclusions. You did nothing to provoke or prolong the incident? You were 100% victim here? Video will tell the story. But what did you want the kid behind the couter to do? Confront the raging man and his family? He called the cops and that's what he is trained to do.
