Complaint Description:
Received "contract" in mail for $1797. Was supposed to STOP magazines, not start them. Manager Kevin got on phone after a young woman asked if I wanted magazines to stop coming. I told him I wanted the magazines to stop being delivered. Period. I had purchased a 1 year subscription in 2009, and was having it sent to a charity. He stated that he would have to do an override of the original, which was done back in 2009, and that I would receive mags for next 18 months until contract lapsed. I never had a contract to begin with.
I told him I was not paying for any magazines, nor would I ever. I repeated it numerous times. He stated I must repeat exactly what I said first time and he would tell me where to say NO, to stop the magazines from coming. He stated he had to do it this way in order to get it changed, and that if I did not answer as he requested, the magazines would fire him for trying to get subscriptions stopped. He stated it was not a sales call, only customer service.
I received a "contract" in the mail on 9/26/14, date 9/24/14 with account number 10029856 in the amount of $1797 due for MORE MAGAZINES. I think he was recording bits and pieces of the conversation to fit his needs. All info I gave him is fictitious, and the credit card number he had "on file" does not exist.
I note that it is a fictitious business name from Florida. I should have known it was a scam. At the bottom of the "contract" it states that "any proceedings to resolve or litigate any dispute in any forum will be conducted solely on an individual basis." It goes on to state that I may not hire an attorney to get this matter cleared up. I am aware that it is not binding on me. Please help get this scammer shut down.
Your Desired Resolution:
This account needs to be closed, and proof of same needs to be sent in writing. I want all magazine delivery to stop, want no further magazines, and no further contact with them.

I have the situation right now, I need to file a complaint too
AUTHOR: rania - (USA)

I received so many calls from that company (North Americas Readers Choice) telling
me that I owe them money (over a thousand dollars) I told them I never ordered
magazines and I want the magazines to stop coming. They said that the magazines
will keep coming untill the end of the contract (which I never made one with them in
the first place).
I told them to opt me out of this, they said that I need to say yes to all their questions
on the recorded conversation and that they will tell me when to say no (which is for
not renewing the contract). I never even made a contract with them to begin with.
They kept on asking for my debit card information; saying that they have to do this to
opt me out of it. They left me no choice but to give them that number. I didn't know
that it was a fraud until I read this article online of a person that dealt with the exact
same situation. They had the card information saved in their file and they just wanted
to makesure the number was valid (how though; if I never gave it to them in the first
place).
Any way; I kept on interupting them to make sure I am not going to be charged. They
said on the last phone call that I owe them $1,336.60; that was after they send me a
letter stating that info. The letter was dated 03/26/2015 stated that they tried to take
money ($23.94) out of my account but my bank denied the transaction. Later on they
called me to try getting paid again on 04/2/2015; I said the same thing over and over
again that I didn't order magazines; still they ended up charging me $53.94 on 4/02/15
in which I paid that amount on 4/3/2015 and I have a confirmation number to prove it
(conf.# 151764) and they told me that the next payment is on 7/26/2015 of $23.94
I want to file a case against this company; hopefully they want be able to charge me
again tomorow and from then on. Please take care of this situation.
By the way I don't have money to get a lawyer so please solve this without involving
me in this matter; I don't think I need a lawyer any way since other people opened
cases against them.
Thank you
Please shut down this company and charge the person involved (or the owner) of a
felony for stealing people's money even though it is done in a clever way.
