This organization is an inefficient government bureaucracy run by people who have no regard for the billions of dollars entrusted to them by taxpayers for Oregonians out of work.

Their business model is to mass hire, train, mass fire, then repeat. Their training budget would be halved If they only knew how to treat their employees and retain them instead of looking for reasons to fire them. This happens when they realize they've hired too many people. Then they deny their benefits.

They have been fined for multiple OSHA violations and been a hotspot for Covid without bothering to let the employees know about it. They forced everyone to work at the office during fires when the office was so full of smoke no one could breathe. While management was safely tucked away in their closed in offices.

They hire a constant barrage of brand new incompetent managers who do not understand the job, to manage the people who do. These inept managers fire people who fail to average six calls per hour. They don't care how much they've helped claimants. It's all about the numbers.

Their training budget, Compared to the business world, is about triple the size. This is because they hire, train, fire, and repeat. Employees are not valued, especially limited duration. Criticism is given for purposes of building a case for termination, not for improvement.

They will hire Anyone who can fog a mirror. Consequently sometimes they will discover they've hired someone who is Not trustworthy to access the private information of claimants, including their Social Security numbers and dates of birth. Of course there will be no mention to the public that their information may have been compromised.

It's a hostile work environment unless you're in management, until suddenly the manager who really enjoyed firing people gets terminated himself/herself. Emails with "staff updates" come through daily with news of yet another employee's departure. Sometimes dozens at a time, (The unspoken secret is these are early terminations without notice.) Seeing them demoralizes the rest of the staff, yet management is oblivious to that. Then they try to deny benefits.

They use an antiquated computer system and spend 10 times the money training people on efficient methods. Training is virtual, allowing very few questions because of the sheer size of each class. Important details are left out provided in dozens of pages of documents but you're not given time to read them. Youre thrown right into the job taking calls and not given more than a few weeks to become "efficient," which means averaging six calls per hour or more.

Union membership is required with a contribution of 6% of your salary to PERS, which is underwater so you'll make nothing on your investments.

No sick pay is offered until six months and they usually terminate people prior to then. If you try to submit an STD/LTD/FMLA forms, they look for another excuse to fire you. Age discrimination is a common occurrence. People with disabilities are not accommodated and quite often bullied by management.

Other work hazards include staring at a computer screen all day, which increases risk of macular degeneration, but no mention is made to the employees. It's a simple fix, but they won't spend the money to buy blue blocker screens.

Amanda Haugen's Specialty is giving very little feedback, no chance to improve, and terminating without notice. She seems to thrive on drama, hoping to shock the employee, and catch them off guard. "We're ending you're limited duration position. When can you return your equipment," she asks, wearing a sinister smirk. She rides around on her little broomstick  as if she's in a Harry Potter movie, the theme of her life.

Pay is average but benefits are great. Steer clear if you're thinking of applying for a job here. You'll wish you didn't and probably will not want it on your résumé later.
