Oscar Cervantes dba Cervantes Remodeling Inc Took money and failed to complete remodeling services; failed to honor written contract; went MIA Glenwood IL

1.  Oscar Cervantes DBA Cervantes Remodeling was hired as our contractor to remodel our kitchen along with other renovations to our home. We gave him a down payment $14,000 on 7/25/20 to purchase material including custom cabinets (for walls and peninsula) and quartz countertops for kitchen; along with sink, faucet, paint, drywall, and other things. We also paid him an additional $5,000 which all funds were paid via bank cashier checks. Oscar began working on our home on 9/1/2020. Abruptly on 12/8/20 we could no longer get in touch with him after leaving numerous messages and texts.

We went by his home and his work van appeared unmoved for about 3 weeks as well as mail was not retrieved. I reached out to the management company that owns the house that he rents. I asked them to do a well being check on him as we were concerned. On 12/22, William Erfurt confirmed that "he was fine" and not to contact him anymore regarding his tenant (Oscar Cervantes). I also went to my local police station (Sauk Village) on 12/8/20 and filed a report for "Theft of Services" (CR# 20-10193). I sent him a certified letter on 12/14/20 yet no response.

Oscar has since moved his work van from his place of residence, retrieved his mail, and disconnected his phone number (773-886-0756). There has no been no contact and he has not tried to reach out or resolve this matter regarding his breach of contract and unfinished work.
