Very good scam artist and great talker, Eddie Dorsett and partner Timothy Smith come to my door to explain they are selling magazines in order to receive points that can get them a scholarship or a nice vacation. When they come to my door I am cooking, making dinner for myself. I did not want to be bothered but I felt like I should help out my fellow college students. Eddie was the sales person, and he acted like Timothy was a trainee. Timothy did not say much but I believe his role is vital to the scam. They talk me into buying a magazine so they could get their points, because after all he does tell me he is currently the top seller. I go and get my credit card and bring it back to purchase the magazine which he told me if I didn't want I should call to cancel in 10 days. He calls his "company" so I can give them my credit card information. He writes me a receipt (not to mention the magazines are expensive as hell!!). I did feel a little uneasy about this when I was giving my credit card information over the phone. I go back to cooking as they are walking out the door.

I called the company the next business day to cancel the order they wanted $70 for a d**n subscription!! The lady with a very weird voice answers and tells me I cannot cancel over the phone and I will have to mail a copy of the receipt to their company in Washington with in 3 business days (which the salesman said I can cancel in 10 days, LIE). So I cancelled my magazine and didn't really think much else about it. The credit card I used on the magazine I rarely ever get out and use. I usually leave it at home. I decided to check my account online to see if they took the money out for the magazine that I already cancelled. What I do find on my account is a $400 dollar purchase that is not mine!!! It was for a cell phone company in Missouri and I had no idea what this was. I check for my card, and I realize it is missing. I guess I was so caught up in getting back to cooking that I didn't realize my card was missing at the time.

I look for these guys on facebook Eddie Dorsett and Timothy Smith. What I find is that these guys did take my money, and they are taking other innocent people's money too. He says on his wall he got a new droid phone and a new phone number. A girl posts why do you keep getting new phones. His shy, trainee role pays out for him acting innocent and taking my money. Do not let these guys fool you, they are evil, conniving salesmen. Eddie has a great personality and a way with his words. He may seem very charming, and he talks pretty fast. They are con artists, and they have perfected their schemes to steal money! Watch out for these people and people like them! I wish these people would get a life and a real job. Acting like this they will never amount to anything in life. They are pretty much worthless people.

I have no idea if Pacific Coast Clearing is a legit business. But from what I have researched and experienced it is not a legit business. They are training people to be scam artists. I hope this company and everyone along with it goes down and goes to jail. That is where they should be if they cannot make an honest living.

KTS

AUTHOR: mamame22007 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, February 02, 2012

I was on KTS for a few months, then again when they switched names.  PCCS is a legit company and does have a lot of responsible people working for them.  All of the other managers I met were very good about keeping up legalities.  And, yes, we also had one person who screwed up in a similar manner, and yes, my manager also called the law and sent that person packing.  It sucks that happened to you, and to be honest, I'm a little surprised he even got dropped off at a bus station.

Please don't base your opinion of all mag agents on that experience.  I still keep in touch with several of my fellow agents.  Two live out west and are very successful in their jobs.  Another now owns his home and has a great job.  Selling magazines is often an escape, a break, from everyday mundane life.  What other job do you get to walk around all day meeting incredible people, in a different city or state every week or two?  You meet all kinds of people, from all kinds of backgrounds.  Yeah, there are down sides, but I loved it.  I wouldn't go back at this point in my life, but I would definitely advise my children to go for at least a few months.

#2 UPDATE Employee

not all scams

AUTHOR: ash - (United States of America)

i worked for tower of power for a month traveling with them.. had a blast met amazing people and learned alot. not everyoone that works for them as door to door salesmen are scammers. and just so everyone knows that if the company or managers on site find out about someone on their crew scamming they send them home or proceed to whatever need be done. Matt parker as some have mentioned is a wonderful guy he was who i worked under. and i know timothy and eddie as you speak of.. timothy got what he deserved and eddie is not a bad guy he is honest and did not know of timothy's actions til the cops showed up at hotel we were at to get timothy. many people come out because they have no where else to go. if you have ever been homeless u should understand the effect it has on an individuals life. Honestly it all depends on the person and unfortunately some people do get ripped off from the kids with no respect and honesty. some just getting out of life the easy but wrong way or too lazy to do whats right. everyone out in the world seem to always be out to get someone when its not all bad.. i made honest money there and had to leave for personal reasons, issues in home state. i met an amazing guy there and we are still together. so my point is these people are not bad or scammers (tower of power). but they do hire easy and sometimes get bad people the truth eventually comes out. i dont know many of the other crew names but if they actually working for pccs then they not bad and dont have bad intentions business is business and yes some of them are like family to me

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

eddie and tj

I am formerly from the same crew that Eddie and Tim, aka TJ, were on. I was on the crew during that situation when management discovered what happened. Eddie actually had nothing to do with the stolen credit card number. He was about ready to kill TJ when he found out what happened. What happened is while you talked on the phone, TJ stayed back and wrote down your credit card info while you spoke to the operator without Eddie even knowing. We all just assumed that TJ had saved up to get the Droid phone. As soon as management found out, they fired TJ, sent him to the bus station, and told the police where to find him and at what time. Apparently he was able to evade them though and from what I understand he's on a different crew. Please do not blame PCCS for TJ's scandalous behavior. They were a great company to work for. I just wasn't as good at sales as others. Trust me though, when we all found out what TJ did, we all wanted to beat the crap out of him. I am so sorry for what happened.
