You need to write to the collection agency, certified mail, return receipt requested, demanding an accounting of what they claim you owe, the original creditor, and proof of the debt. Copy the entire thing, including certified receipts and send to the credit bureau (you should send this certified mail as well) advising them that the collection agency has refused to provide any proof of any money owed and that you are disputing the debt. Demand they remove it from your credit report. Good luck.

i requested my credit report and found out i was on collection. i contacted the collection agency and asked why i had not been contacted. they claimed to have sent letter ( i never received ) so i asked them to fax it over they said they could not do that. so i asked them to send some thing else in writting. all they wanted to know was how i was going to pay. i asked them to send it by mail so i can look into it. I have called several times and still have not received anything by mail. i tried to contact at&t and request information from them as well. they said they were going to mail me the bill this was back on 2/28/03 i still have not received any thing from them either. i asked them to fax it they can not fax me anything either.
these places are not cooperating with me.....
they both need to be investigated...
