I just received a collections letter in the mail from Palisades Collection, L.L.C. stating that they are collecting a $2,597.92 debt for AT&T Wireless. I do not recall ever having a wireless acount with AT&T.

Ha, just because the debt isn't yours doesn't mean they won't hound you for it. They've been calling me for months now, off & on. I filed other reports here so won't bother going into the details again, but they seem to specialize in collecting for old ATT debts.
Att informs me that they do whats called "fishing" where they basically call/contact others with a similar name or phone number to the "real" person they're looking for - in hopes of hitting paydirt. Pretty amazing that debt collectors can attempt to collect a debt with such inaccurate information.
