Okay here we go. ARound Jan 10th of this year I was looking for a new car. I decided that I would go down to Palmen Motors and look around. Finding at the time a car for 10K I decided to try financing. Jordon my sales agent ensured me that with a thousand dollar check that the sale should go through and I would be able to pick the car up right away. I was going to put 3K down on the vehicle and finance the rest. It was made clear to them that my credit was not that great. I also asked that if I didnt get the financing then would my check be returned to me.

The check was made out, handed over and all I was supposed to do was wait.

2 dyas later I still havent recieved a phone call so I called PALMEN MOTORS myself. I was informed that my credit was not at the mark to finance at that time and that I should buy a car for 3000.00. Nothing on the lot was worth that so I declined and asked for my check back. Just come in and pick it up.

Now comes the interesting part. This all started jan 10th mind you.

1.My father comes in to pick up his check and is informed that it was lost and that it would be found by the next day
2. Next day he is told that the check was deposited and that they would have to send him a check.
3. He puts a stop on the check.
4. Still nothing from PALMEN MOTORS
5. Still nothing from PALMEN MOTORS
6. Still nothing from PALMEN MOTORS

Now were nearing the end of the month and Ive had it up to here with this company. In this time we had both made repeated attemts to reclain our check to no avail, were ignored by the staff at PALMEN MOTORS, and basiclly disregarded although they had $1000.00 of my cash.

Finally I called and asked to talk to someone above and informed them that if I was not compinsated I would start legal action against them. This seemed to help because my father pulled up the next day JORDON at PALMEN MOTORS came skipping out to the car with check in hand. The Check that was supposidly cashed before-hand. Apparently Jordan can time-travel and went back and saved my check before it was cashed. Thank you JORDAN AT PALMEN MOTORS for doing that!

This company is bad from the core. I would not recommend my worse enemy to them. All it boils down to with them is the mighty dollar.

Well in hindsight I can say that at least I got my money back, Jordon is still traveling through time to help his customers that he loves and respects and me well I found a great car at a Independent Kenosha dealership on 39th ave for 3 grand that runs great, has no problems and looks like its brand new.

PALMEN MOTORS if I didnt mention them before.

Advice from a former auto salesman

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 11, 2007

It's unfortunate that a LOT of dealerships choose to do business this way. I had a similar instance with a dealership in Milwaukee, WI.

As a former salesman, just a little free advice. NEVER, EVER give a check to a dealership until:

1. You are CERTAIN that the car it's going toward is the car you want. Don't let a salesperson bully you into a car that you don't want or can't afford.

2. The financing has been APPROVED, and you have the COMPLETE contract and details in hand. A lot of dealerships ask for money down before they've even STARTED checking into financing. DO NOT fall for this trap. Your money is as good as lost for a period of time, like in this case.

Also, it's usually a good idea to check with a bank or credit union about financing BEFORE going to a dealership. You'll almost ALWAYS get a lower interest rate, and you'll know how much you can finance.

Hope this is helpful!
