I took in a laptop and a desktop to get repaired in April 2011. I spoke to Justin, the owner,  and told him the laptop would not turn on at all and the desktop was having errors. He called me the next day to tell me that the memory in the laptop needed to be replaced and he could upgrade it from 512 to 1 gig for an extra 20 dollars, I agreed and it was to be done at a cost of 80 dollars. He said it would be done the next day, Thursday. I went in and was told he was not there, so I went back the next day, Friday- he was not there. I sent him a text message and he said to meet him there between 2 and 3 pm. I went back and he told me my screen was broken and that he would try to fix it. I paid him the full 80 dollars, he told me he would contact me again to let me know the status. Sunday he called me and told me he was unable to fix the screen but that he found one on craigslist for 40 dollars but he would need the money right away. He came to my house and picked up another 40 dollars in cash- which totals now to 120. I called him back the following week and left a message, and
left him several text messages. He got ahold of me the next week to tell me that he had either lost his phone or it was broken. He told me the lap top was finished. I asked about the desktop and he told me that it would cost 60 dollars to fix. I had given him some parts in trade and asked about it then he texted me and told me that he would give me 30 dollars in trade, so I would only owe 20 dollars. When I went to pick them all up, I asked if the memory was installed in the laptop and he said yes. Then he stated that I owed 60 dollars instead of the original quote with the parts in trade, he seemed to not remember this and I was tired of the runaround, so I just paid him another 60 in cash- for a total of 180 dollars. He does not take checks, or credit or debit. I got my systems home and noticed how slow they were running, the lap top did
not have any memory increase, it was the same. The desktop however, was missing the original 2 gigs or ram that were in it when I was dropped off and was replaced with a 512 stick. He took my ram sticks and replaced it with an inferior item that cannot even run my desktop. I called and went by several times, no answer or explanation from him- he is never at the shop and does not return the calls.

I gave him my laptop almost a year ago, and Justin said he'd have it fixed by the weekend.  He did a test and said it'd cost about $250 to fix and that I just need to give him the $180 for the part to get started fixing it. He then told me he was having a problem figuring out what's wrong with and would try a few things and get back to me.

He spent weeks between getting back to me as I inquired about my computer.  Then months passed and now it's been almost a year.  He's had every excuse, he said he dropped his phone one time, but we had already planned to meet at a specific time and he left me waiting outside of his business in the snow. I don't know why his phone breaking means not showing up.  Then his grandfather died, then he left the country for months, then he was at the coast for the weekend, then he got in a car accident, and I have simpathy for a person going through those things, but it always comes up when he's just about to pay me and then he just disappears for long periods of time.

It's been 10 months, and he couldn't get back to me to just give me my computer and money back.  He claims it's just sitting in his office.  A responsible business person would have made sure I got it back in due time and stopped making excuses and started making some effort.  He makes excuses like he's hiding something and it's extremely frustrating to deal with.  Now he's trying to run a guilt trip on me by saying he's was doing something time consuming for cheap.  I'm so frustrated and just want my money and computer back.
