My 17-year-old son ordered a gift for his girlfriend from Personal Creations using his debit/credit card in November. In January there were two charges for $11.99 from UMG Simpmine on his debit card.

An internet search showed other people are being fraudulently charged by UMG Simpmine. UMB is United Marketing Group. They have a membership program for some sort of discount club called Buyers Edge, and part of that is Simply Mine.

I called Personal Creations to make them aware of the charges and ask if their company ran the buyers club. The first customer service person said they did not. She said the other company, UMG, advertised through their web site with a pop-up ad that asked people of they wanted to sign up for their club when anyone placed an order.

I wanted to find out how to speak with someone at a level of authority with Personal Creations to make sure they understand their image is being ruined by allowing another company to advertise with them when that company fraudulently signs people up for their club. My son's computer has a pop-up blocker. He doesn't remember seeing a pop-up, and he certainly wouldn't sign up for a buyers' club!

The rep passed me off to a supervisor. The supervisor kept insisting my son HAD signed up for the buyers' club. I told her my purpose for speaking with her was to ask how to talk to someone at corporation in PR to make sure they know how vile their company looks when you order through them and wind up being defrauded.

She refused to give that information and kept insisting he had signed up for the club. I asked if UMG was a different company, as the rep had told me, or if they were the same company as Personal Creations. She refused to answer! She said she would only talk about it to my son.

I put him on the phone and she refused to answer when he asked if Personal Creations and UMG are the same company or separate companies. She hung up on him!

It's obvious to me that UMG and Personal Creations are the same company, or closely related. Why else would Personal Creations' supervisor argue that my son signed up for the UMG club, and why else would she refuse to answer the question and then hang up on him?

Google UMG Simpmine and you'll find lots of reports of fraudulent credit card charges by this outfit. Stay away from Personal Creations or you're begging to be defrauded. And blamed for it. And hung up on!

Just throw a wad of dollar bills in the garbage and poke yourself in the eye. It will be quicker and less painful!
