After a seperation and before a divorce my ex filed bankruptcy on all HER bills. No biggie to me, but the amount I owed was $1,500 and I was attempting to pay it. The original creditors sold the account four times on me making it hard to keep up with whom I actually owed.

Finally Portfoliorecovery called me on my cell and demanded the money. Except now they want $3,500, the extra $2,000 they say is for interest. Can they legally do this to me?
