The seller lists movie and celebrity memorabilia for sale – chiefly signed movie poster and the like. The seller’s web site cites a supposed abstract from the Gothenburg Research Group to make them seem credible and to refute third-party claims that their merchandise is not what they claim it to be – in other words fake – fake signatures especially.  Beware of any seller of anything that touts legitimacy by posting supposed confirmation from a third party. A Google search for the Guthenburg Research Group did not yield ANY hits to suggest that this entity is real, legitimate or has anything to do with determining whether poster memorabilia is legitimate.  They post the same bogus Gothernburg Research Group claim on another website called https://postercritic.com under the heading: “Is PosterMemorabilia.com the real deal?” Poster Memorabilia has done a good job of making sure that a Google search shows only or mostly only their own information and screens-out criticisms or advisories that they sell fake signatures. I was unable to find their actual business address although the BBB indicates they are located in Texas 75001, and another source suggests they are based in Beverly Hills, California while another suggests they are in Canada.  A business without a listed business address is not a good sign. My barber shop lists their address. Come on!

No, I did not purchase merchandise from PosterMemorabilia.com and here’s why: I sent them a message through their web site as follows: “I am considering purchasing multiple movie posters from you. However, I need assurances. Your return policy states item must be unused and unopened. How would a buyer verify a Beckett or PSA certification identification number if they don't open the item packaging? As a first-time buyer, I am naturally skeptical. Some suggest that your stock of signed posters are produced by autopen or not actually by the movie stars themselves. Critics point to the logistics required to get multiple movie stars to sign a single poster - and do so multiple times. So forgive my wariness, but what are your answers? Thank you”

After sending me a generic reply saying that they respond to all inquiries in 2 days or less, more than a week passed with no follow-up. Here is their only reply e-mail:

BEWARE! Their fine print refund policy states that the package received from them must be UNOPENED! Buyer must pay for return postage and a restocking fee. As you can see, I asked about their supposed third-party certification and signature authentication and got no reply. You can’t check their certification against known entities that authenticate such as Beckett or PSA unless you can see the certification sticker – which would mean opening the package. And then guess what, their refund guarantee becomes void. BUYER BEWARE! Legitimate movie posters with actual movie star signature often go for thousands of dollars, not hundreds. I’m glad that I dug deeper and asked questions. They will never get a cent from me.
