I have been a loyal customer of Provident Bank in New Jersey for 9 years. I first opened my account in Jersey City, but then opened one up in Hazlet, after I moved. The coporate office where all complaints and major issues are taken care of is in the Jersey City branch.

About two weeks ago, I noticed that there were some unauthorized withdrawals from my checking account to the tune of $900, that was withdrawn from my account using my atm card, or some other means of withdrawal.

Now what made me suspicious of these withdrawals, besides the fact that I never made them, was that they were made in an area that I have NEVER been to. It was made in a Wawa that I have never been to, nor taken money out of; also ALL of the amonts were made in increments of $100, including one day when $100 was taken out three times in a row on the same day, within minutes of each other.

Now, I went through the normal procedure, I went to my Hazlet Branch , where a couple of the transactions were made and filled out all of the appropriate paperwork. I was told that it could take up to 45 days because the corporate office, which is in Jersey City, would have to request film from both the Hazlet Branch, and the Wawa's to see who made these transactions.

I called about a week later, and the assistant manager from the Hazlet Branch said that she received an email stating that they were requesting some film, and that they would get in touch with me. Well, I just got a letter yesterday, dated May 29,2008, stating that they denied my claim because according to their records, the money was withdrwan on the first attempt using my atm card, and PIN number.

What happened to the film? What happened to the investigation? I signed a sworn statement saying that noy only did I not make these withdrawals, but that I had NEVER been to that WAwa's where most of the transactions took place at. I am closing my account with the Provident Bank in New Jersey as soon as my last check clears, and I intend to seek another avenue until I receive justice.

DON'T OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH PROVIDENT BANK IN NEW JERSEY.

Provident Bank of NJ, Jersey City, setteled unauthorized atm withdrawals

AUTHOR: Lawrence - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 23, 2008

Provident Bank of NJ, Jersey City, sent out a new letter agreeing with my ATM withdrawal findings, and finally refunded me my entire amount of $900. They still did not tell me what they found, or if the culprit was caught, but they did finally refund me my money, and agreed with my legitimate complaint. Hopefully there will be no more problems of this kind from this bank in the future.
